🔥 A message from Firefighter Price 🔥

Before lighting a bonfire, please think about the risks.

Every year we attend incidents where garden fires have spread quickly, damaged property, harmed wildlife and put people in danger. What starts as a small bonfire can easily get out of control — especially in dry or windy conditions.

If you are planning to burn:
✅ Keep it small and controlled
✅ Never leave it unattended
✅ Keep water nearby
✅ Keep children and pets well away
✅ Be considerate of your neighbours and the environment

If your fire becomes uncontrollable:
🚨 Get out
🚨 Stay out
🚨 Call 999 immediately

Let’s work together to keep Witney safe.

🚒 A message from Firefighter Stratford 🚒

As the warmer weather arrives and we spend more time at home, I want to remind everyone about the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a silent killer. You can’t see it, smell it or taste it — but it can be deadly in minutes.

A simple CO alarm could save your life and give you the warning you need to get out safely.
Please make sure:

✅ You have a working CO alarm fitted in your home
✅ You test it regularly
✅ Boilers, fires and fuel-burning appliances are serviced properly
✅ You know the signs of CO poisoning — headaches, dizziness, nausea and tiredness

If your alarm sounds:

• Get outside into fresh air immediately
• Open doors and windows if safe to do so
• Call 999 if anyone feels unwell

Protect your family. Protect your home.

Be alarmed. Be aware. Stay safe.

🚐⛰️ This morning our first team departed from Witney Fire Station, destination: Fort William, where they will begin their ascent of Ben Nevis — the first peak of the challenge. This team are completing one epic mountain a day over the coming 3 days; Our 24 hour mini buses will be hot on their tail tomorrow when they hit the road.

“When does the karaoke begin?” could already be heard from this group as everyone boarded the minibus… so morale is clearly high already 🎤😂

We’re incredibly proud to be completing this challenge in support of the Firefighters Charity and in memory of the Bicester Motion incident ❤️

💧WATER SAFETY MESSAGE 💧

Firefighter Smith would like to share this water safety message with you all…..

With the warmer weather here, more people are spending time around rivers, lakes, canals and open water — but please remember, water can be far more dangerous than it looks.

Even on hot days, the water is often extremely cold and can quickly lead to cold water shock, panic and exhaustion.

We want everyone to enjoy the outdoors safely this summer, so please remember:
✅ Never jump into unknown water
✅ Keep children close and supervised
✅ Avoid alcohol around water
✅ Wear a life jacket where appropriate
✅ Look out for friends and family

If you find yourself in trouble in the water:
➡️ Float on your back
➡️ Stay calm and control your breathing
➡️ Call for help

And if you see someone else in difficulty:
📞 Call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service

⚠️ Never enter the water yourself — throw something that floats and encourage them to float.

Please take care around water and help us keep everyone safe this summer. ❤️

THANK YOU to the Witney community for supporting our Open Day this weekend. We’re currently phoning raffle winners as we speak and look forward to sharing how much we’ve raised for The Firefighters Charity 🚒

In the meantime… our lost property box is overflowing.

We have a lovely pair of sunglasses belonging to Neveah R, currently being modelled by our Station Commander. Unfortunately, he’s become rather attached to them and is refusing to take them off. 😎🌼

So, Neveah’s parents - please get in touch asap so we can return them before he tries to claim them as official PPE…

A message from Firefighter Fuller……

With the hot, dry weather we’ve been having recently, I just wanted to remind everyone to please be extra careful when using disposable BBQs.

Once finished, these BBQs can stay hot for hours and, if thrown away too soon or left on dry grass, they can easily start fires that spread incredibly quickly.

Sadly, we see fires every year caused by BBQs being discarded incorrectly — damaging grassland, wildlife, fences, properties and putting people at risk.

Please remember:
✅ Let BBQs cool down fully
✅ Pour water over them before disposal
✅ Never place hot BBQs into bins or bin bags
✅ Don’t leave them on grass or open countryside

It only takes one small spark to cause a serious wildfire in these conditions.

Please help us protect our community and countryside by disposing of BBQs safely and responsibly. ❤️

☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING ☀️

Firefighter Beedie would like to share the following message….

As the weather warms up, please remember — never leave your dog or any animal in a parked car, even for a few minutes.

🐶 If you’re heading out and can’t take your pet with you safely, please leave them at home where they can stay cool and comfortable.

If you ever see an animal in distress inside a vehicle, call 999 immediately.

Please help us spread the message and keep our furry family members safe this summer ❤️

🚨 TEST IT TUESDAY 🚨

Today is your reminder to test every smoke alarm in your home:

✅ Press the test button
✅ Listen for the loud beep
✅ Make it part of your weekly routine

It only takes a few seconds, but it could save lives.

Please take a moment today to protect what matters most. ❤️

While you’re checking yours, why not help an elderly family member, friend or neighbour test theirs too? A small act of kindness could make a huge difference. ❤️

It’s a confirmed glorious day and we are underway.
