The Town Council is responsible for local issues affecting the Citizens of Witham and works to promote and defend the Town's interests. The Town Council operates four standing committees and sub-committees (open to the public) and nine advisory committees, covering areas including planning,
environment and community. Witham Town Council manages the River Walk, Whetmead Nature Reserve, the Closed Churchyard in Lockram Lane and James Cooke Wood. We are also responsible fore street lamps with WTC in the identification number. Please note that refuse collections in the town, fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, street cleaning and dog waste bins are dealt with by Braintree District Council (www.braintree.gov.uk) and issues with the town's roads, road signs, traffic lights and pot holes are under the management of Essex Highways (www.essexhighways.org)
