Autumn is an important time of year where fungi produce the fruiting bodies known of mushrooms.

Fungi are vital for our ecosystem - they are a vital food source for wildlife, they help with the decay of of fallen wood and leaves to return nutrients to the soil and fungi work in unison with tree roots to help trees grow.

The Estate is home to at least 43 species of of fungi that almost entirely confined to this area.

We ask that you do not pick fungi to allow them to continue as an important part of the ecosystem and to ensure these rare fungi thrive within the Estate, much of which is dedicated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
