Western Church of England Primary is a very popular school, situated less than a mile to the west of Winchester city centre and is set in very attractive, extensive grounds. Our pupils are sociable, articulate and creative; they respond well to responsibility and challenge. They are eager to learn, resourceful and enthusiastic. We want them to be inspired by the learning opportunities on offer so they can become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

We are delighted to share our 2026 outcomes.
93% of our Year R children achieved a good level of development this year. ✅
91% of our Year 1 children achieved the expected standard in the Phonic Screening Check. ✅
80% of our Year 6 children achieved the expected standard in Reading with 42% Greater Depth.✅
76% of our Year 6 children achieved the expected standard in Writing with 21% Greater Depth. ✅
79% of our Year 6 children achieved the expected standard in Maths with 35% Greater Depth. ✅

It has been lovely to have the children back and the school is buzzing with the excitement of new learning and seeing old friends and new! This week we have two more meet and greet sessions for years 4 and 5 parents.

Everyone in Years 1 to 6 had the opportunity to take part in a skateboarding session at the end of last week and what a great experience it was! The coaches from Team Rubicon made sure everyone was successful. It was fantastic to see lots of initially nervous children gliding around the playground. Some even mastered a pancake flip!

We can’t believe it’s the last 3 days of the school year! Year R are sharing their ‘A year in song’ presentation with parents on Monday afternoon and we say a final goodbye to our Year 6 leavers on Wednesday.
Parents of children currently in Year 2 are invited to a meet and greet with the Year 3 team on Monday at 6.30pm.
