The facts remain that the badge at NMA differs from the one worn by those who enlisted.

The fact that is being missed here is that the badges in circulation, including those that are supposed to be representative of the finest Regiment, that of The Royal Green Jackets, at NMA, and other places where things can be purchased.

Here is the greed situation, things sold for profit not correctness and are not represented correctly, and there lies the shame.

Shame that those who served with pride and died with pride in their heart are not being represented correctly.

Things can look similar; however, they are not.

They are distorted, then further distorted, and in time, there is nothing left, and history is lost.

All the Regiments at NMA have pride of place (waterlogged or not at times); they stand in recognition of those that served, and they stand with the pride of the regimental insignia ( cap badges) and are correctly represented.

The Royal Green Jackets badge on the NMA is incorrect and therefore not representative of the badge worn on enlistment.
It is too similar to the one used by the Association and is not sanctioned by the MOD for enlistment.

It is my understanding that the MOD has now looked at the situation too and recently lost a Court case regarding a trademark for the original, which was seen as necessary to represent, preserve, and protect the history of the Regiment, not for greed, as has been suggested by some.

To make things right, the correct badge must be used.

It is not correct to use a badge in circulation that represents an association or group. It is disrespectful to place that on a Memorial.

The MOD do not sanction it.

It is almost like two fingers up to those who served and died.

Disrespectful to the lineage and history made by those who served and died in service.

Pride comes before a fall, and this is not pride; it is stubbornness in not acknowledging the wrongs or mistakes.
That is where the pride of the Regiment is falling in its failings.

My suggestion to anyone who can make decisions within the Association in respect of this, so higher echelon committee members, is to meet with Steve Barrett at NMA, listen, and look at the discrepancies and come to an arrangement to use the correct badge.

This needs to be done as an expedient measure to uphold the pride of the Regiment and its position at NMA on the occasion of its 60th Anniversary of formation, before everything gets lost in communication.

This would solve the situation once and for all. This would then remove any ambiguity.
Let's all play nice it is my understanding that you are all one family of Green, some more eloquent than others but none the less all Riflemen.
Don't be to Swift to condemn be Bold to amend and make right .
