Ferndown NPT Weekly Update

Over the past few weeks we have:

✅ Conducted high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas across Ferndown, providing reassurance to residents and targeting issues raised by the community.

✅ Continued patrols at Lidl, McDonald's, Sainsbury's and KGV Fields, addressing concerns around anti-social behaviour and maintaining a visible policing presence.

✅ Engaged with residents, local businesses and community groups, listening to concerns and providing crime prevention advice.

✅ Stage 3 warning letters were delivered to individuals involved in ongoing anti-social behaviour, reinforcing expectations and highlighting the consequences of continued offending.

✅ The next Mobile Police Station (MPS) will be on 3 November at 11:00am. Come along to meet your local neighbourhood policing team, discuss any concerns, receive crime prevention advice, and find out more about what we're doing in your area.

Verwood , Three Legged Cross, Alderholt and East Rural Dorset

hi everyone here's a quick look at some of the work we've been doing to keep our community safe and connected
👮‍♂️ Foot patrols in Verwood have provided a visible policing presence, allowing officers to engage with residents, offer reassurance, and address local concerns.
🚔 Rural patrols were conducted across Horton, Sixpenny Handley, Cranborne, and the surrounding areas, focusing on crime prevention, community reassurance, and intelligence gathering.
🌳 Officers also carried out patrols in woodland areas following reports of damage being caused, making enquiries to identify those responsible and any vehicles linked to the incidents.
💳 The team dealt with reports of fraud, providing crime prevention advice and supporting ongoing enquiries.
🚸 An investigation is underway following a report that a child was struck by a vehicle in Verwood, where the driver failed to stop at the scene. Thankfully, the child did not suffer any serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage is encouraged to contact Dorset Police.
💊 Officers have continued to tackle issues relating to drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour, carrying out patrols, gathering intelligence, and taking positive action where appropriate.
🚐 We were also hosted a Mobile Police Station which was well attended by members of the public. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak with us, raise concerns, seek advice, and find out more about the work being carried out in their community.

APPEAL | We are continuing to investigate a reported theft of medals in Ferndown and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The First World War medals were stored in the loft of the victim’s home and he reported that they were reportedly stolen while another man was present at the address between Tuesday 23 June and Tuesday 30 June 2026.

The medals were described as having green, blue and red ribbons on and bore the name ‘E J Mayne’.

It was also reported that a stamp collection, containing stamps from the 1960s and 1970s on envelopes with the victim’s name and various addresses on, was stolen as well as a collection of Victorian coins.

Following enquiries, a Bournemouth man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of theft. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Matt Putt, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this matter and at this time have not been able to locate the medals and other items that were reportedly stolen.

“The medals in particular were of great sentimental value to the victim and I would urge anyone who has come across items matching those described being offered for sale locally or online in suspicious circumstances to please contact us.”

Wimborne NPT Weekly Update 🚔

🚓 Conducted high-visibility patrols in local hotspot areas, providing reassurance and addressing concerns raised by the community in Wimborne, Corfe Mullen, Colehill and Sturminster Marshall.

🚗 Whilst out on patrol we located a vehicle on a public road with no valid tax, insurance, or MOT. The vehicle was seized and dealt with in accordance with road traffic legislation.🚨

🤝 Continued engagement with residents and businesses during patrols, listening to concerns and offering crime prevention advice.

🛡️ Ongoing work to safeguard vulnerable people and provide support where needed within the community.

🚶 Responded to community concerns and gathered local intelligence to help shape future patrols and policing priorities.

🎯 Following reports of youths carrying and using catapults in public areas, we are carrying out targeted patrols and investigating these matters to identify those involved so they can be dealt with accordingly.

📢 Thank you to everyone who visited the Mobile Police Station (MPS) this week. It was great to speak with residents, discuss local concerns, and provide crime prevention and community safety advice.

ARREST | A man has been arrested in connection with a reported sexual assault in Ferndown.

It was reported that at around 4.20pm on Thursday 17 September 2026 a 16-year-old girl was sitting on a bench by the bus stop near to Iceland in Victoria Road when a man approached her, having got off the number 13 Morebus.

He reportedly began engaging her in conversation and made inappropriate sexual comments before grabbing the victim around the neck.

Following enquiries by officers, a 50-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released on police bail as further investigative work is carried out.

📍🚓 Ferndown Neighbourhood Policing Team Weekly Update 🚓📍

This week, officers have carried out targeted patrols in areas affected by anti-social behaviour. Working with partner agencies, a number of young people have been issued warnings under the Community Consequences Scheme to help tackle ASB and prevent further incidents. 👮

🚶‍♂️ We have also been out engaging with residents across the area and supporting events during National Cadet Week. It was great to see so many local cadets at the event held at King George V Playing Fields.

👋 This week we also said farewell to Sergeant Steve Payne (1309) following an outstanding 30-year career with Dorset Police. Steve has led neighbourhood policing in Ferndown for the past five years and will be greatly missed by colleagues and the community alike. We wish him all the very best in his retirement. We also welcome Sergeant Mike Wood (2619) to the team.

Wimborne NPT weekly update 🚓

🚓 High-Visibility Patrols

Officers have conducted regular high-visibility patrols in Wimborne, Corfe Mullen, Sturminster Marshall and Colehill in hotspot areas to help tackle local issues within the community.
Engagement with residents, businesses and partner agencies has remained a key part of our neighbourhood policing approach.

🏘️ Anti-Social Behaviour Patrols

Dedicated patrols have been carried out following reports of anti-social behaviour in identified hotspot locations.
Officers have engaged with young people and addressed community concerns relating to nuisance behaviour.

🗑️ Littering Concerns

Patrols have been increased following reports of littering, including discarded takeaway and food packaging, drinks bottles and condom boxes in the area of Waitrose green.
We are working to identify those responsible and encourage everyone to take pride in their community by disposing of rubbish responsibly.

🛡️ Safeguarding Vulnerable People

Officers have continued safeguarding work with vulnerable members of the community, carrying out welfare checks and working alongside partner agencies where support is needed.
Protecting vulnerable people remains a key priority for the neighbourhood team.

❓ Do You Know Where Your Kids Are?

We are reminding parents and guardians to be aware of where their children are, particularly during the evening hours.
A number of reports received this week highlight the impact that unsupervised behaviour can have on local residents and public spaces. Parents can play an important role in helping young people make positive choices and show respect for their community.

👮‍♂️ Meet Your Local Team 👋

I'm PC Ryan Jackson (2991). I've been a police officer for 10 years. I joined policing because I wanted to protect vulnerable people from harm and have a career that my family could be proud of. 💙

Before joining NPT, I worked in Patrol, the Professional Development Unit, and the Force Command Centre, giving me experience across a range of policing roles.

One of the things I enjoy most about neighbourhood policing is the opportunity to engage directly with the community and have a visible presence in the area I serve. It's been fantastic getting out and meeting local people. I'm still discovering which issues I enjoy tackling most within neighbourhood policing, but I'm really enjoying the variety of work and opportunities to help people across the community.

Community policing is all about building relationships, and I want residents to feel comfortable approaching me with any concerns, questions or simply to say hello. If speaking to a police officer feels a bit intimidating, my advice is this: Once we take off our hat, we start to look a bit more like everyone else! So just come up and say hello and let us know what you feel or think." In fact, a smile and a wave is usually the perfect way to start a conversation. 👋 I'm always happy to talk.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring local parks and scenic spots, and I'm a bit of a movie buff 🎬, so there's a good chance I'll have a film quote for most situations! And if you're wondering whether I'm team tea or coffee... my choice would be an Iced Caramel Latte 🧋😄.

Most importantly, I'd like local residents to know that I will always do my best to help.
