🔥 FOUR WILTSHIRE FIRE STATIONS UNDER THREAT

Bradford on Avon, Mere, Ramsbury and Wilton could all lose their fire stations under proposals from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service—driven by funding pressures, not local choice.

Wiltshire Conservatives are calling for urgent Government action to protect our communities.

Cllr Richard Clewer has written to the Prime Minister following a question raised by Dr Andrew Murrison MP at PMQs. The message is clear: rural fire cover is at risk, and we need support now.

Cllr Pauline Church (Wilton) says:

“Closing Wilton’s station would leave residents more vulnerable and increase response times at moments when every second counts.”

We stand with our retained firefighters. We stand with our communities.
It’s time for Westminster to step in.

Wiltshire deserves better than this. 🚫

Today, the Liberal Democrats, the Independent Group and Labour councillors voted for a 4.99% council tax rise - whilst at the same time slashing the services our communities rely on.

✂️ Cutting spending on our road network

🗑️ Cutting black bin collections to once every 3 weeks

🚫 Cutting the Parish Steward Scheme

🚫 Cutting the Parish Emergency Assistance Scheme

💸 Hiking car parking charges, including a huge increase on Sundays

They call it a budget. But it’s hard to see how any of this is good for Wiltshire.

Our alternative budget took on no debt and delivered a £20m better position over 3 years. 📊💼

It is possible to protect services and manage money responsibly, if you choose to.

Wiltshire residents deserve a council that puts communities first, not one that cuts frontline services whilst raising bills. 🌱

🚨 Alternative Budget summarised! It’s better for Wiltshire by far. Wiltshire Conservatives have published their Alternative Budget🚨

If you haven’t had time to watch all the individual videos, this round‑up gives you a rapid tour of the major changes being put forward to support residents, protect services and deliver better value for money across Wiltshire.

🅿️ Parking: Scrapping extended charging hours and Sunday hourly fees to support high streets, the evening economy and worshippers.

🛣️ Highways investment: £6.2m a year for three years - funded from revenue, not borrowing - avoiding £60m of long‑term debt for future generations.

🚧 Lane rental: A practical way to cut disruption, speed up roadworks and keep Wiltshire’s traffic moving.

♻️ Household Recycling Centres: Scrapping the £75k booking system, keeping Purton and Lower Compton HRCs open, removing barriers to recycling and reducing fly‑tipping.

🏗️ St Stephen’s MSCP: No gifting a car park and £2.5m of public money to a developer; instead challenging the covenant and securing the best deal for Trowbridge and all Wiltshire’s council tax payers.

🚐 Community transport: Protecting vital volunteer‑led services, keeping LINK and Community First grants in place, supporting vulnerable residents without raiding the adult social care budget.

If you want to see these proposals carried out, now is the moment to act.

🚨 Let’s ensure value for money for Wiltshire’s residents! Wiltshire Council’s budget meeting - Tuesday 24th February. 🚨

Wiltshire Conservatives Alternative budget plan for St Stephen’s Place multi-storey car park sets out an approach focused on protecting public money and securing the best outcome for the whole county.

Here’s what the alternative budget would mean:

🏗️ No gifting the car park - or £2.5 million of council taxpayers’ money - to a developer, without exploring every other potential avenue first.

📜 A commitment to challenge the historic covenant before any further decisions are made.

🤝 Working closely with officers to develop a plan that delivers the best options for Trowbridge and all of Wiltshire’s residents.

💷 This approach aims for better value for council taxpayers, less pressure on council finances and a better long‑term outcome for the whole county.

If you want to see this approach to Wiltshire Council’s finances, now is the moment to act.

🚨 Secure community transport! Wiltshire Council’s budget meeting - Tuesday 24th February. 🚨

The alternative budget presented by Wiltshire Conservatives will safeguard vital support for vulnerable residents who rely on these services every day.

Here’s what the alternative budget would deliver:

🚐 Continued funding for community transport, helping vulnerable residents reach medical appointments, do their shopping and stay socially connected. This is especially important in rural areas.

💷 This support would be maintained without raiding the adult social care budget.

🤝 Grants to LINK and Community First would continue, ensuring these volunteer‑led schemes can keep providing this tremendously important service.

❤️ Because these services rely on volunteers, this funding is essential to keep them running for the people in our communities who need them most and many would suffer without them.

If you want to see these proposals secured in Wiltshire Council’s budget, now is the moment to act.

📍 Wherever you live in Wiltshire: contact your Wiltshire Councillor and urge them to back continued funding for LINK Schemes and community transport. A quick message from you can genuinely influence the final decision.

🚨 Help protect our recycling services! Wiltshire Council’s budget meeting - Tuesday 24th February. 🚨

Wiltshire Conservatives’ plan is to keep recycling easy, accessible and affordable for residents across Wiltshire.

Here’s what our alternative budget would achieve:

♻️ Scrap the unpopular slot‑booking system along with the £75,000 implementation cost.

♻️ Keep Purton and Lower Compton recycling centres open, until a suitable alternative site is secured.

🗑️ Encourage recycling, reduce instances of fly‑tipping.

🚗 Provide certainty for residents in North Wiltshire, saving people the extra time and fuel required to travel to more distant sites.

📍 Wherever you live in Wiltshire: contact your Wiltshire Councillor and urge them to support our Alternative Budget. Now is the moment to act to keep recycling centres accessible and scrap the HRC slot booking system. A quick message from you can genuinely influence your Councillor’s decision on the 24th.

🚨 Time to stand up for our high streets! Wiltshire Council’s budget meeting - Tuesday 24th February. 🚨

Wiltshire Conservatives alternative budget is proposing parking plans designed to support local businesses, the evening economy and worshippers across our county.

Here’s what the alternative budget would do:

🅿️ Scrap the proposed extension of chargeable hours from 7am-7pm back to 8am-6pm.

🅿️ Scrap the plan to change Sunday in to a weekday charging regime back to a simple flat rate for the day.

🏬 These changes are aimed at protecting our high streets, supporting the evening economy and ensuring worshippers aren’t unduly penalised for attending services.

If you want to see these proposals included in Wiltshire Council’s budget, now is the moment to act.

📍 Wherever you live in Wiltshire: contact your local councillor and urge them to support keeping parking fair and accessible for residents, visitors, and businesses. A short message from you can genuinely influence the final decision.

🚨 Time to speak up for our roads! Wiltshire Council’s budget meeting — Tuesday 24th February. 🚨

Many residents have said they want to see real, long‑term improvements to our roads and these proposals aim to do exactly that. We’ve just released a new video on highways investment proposals being put forward by Wiltshire Conservatives.

Here’s what’s on the table:

🛣️ £6.2 million a year, for three years, invested directly into Wiltshire’s highways - on top of the government grant!

💷 This investment would be funded from revenue, not borrowing.

🏦 By contrast, the administration’s budget proposes £5 million a year funded through borrowing, which would cost almost £60 million over 60 years, meaning future generations would still be paying it back long after the lifespan of the work!!

👷‍♂️ And importantly, this plan retains the vital Parish Stewards service, rather than cutting it - as proposed in the administration’s budget - protecting a vital frontline service for our communities.

If you want to see this approach included in Wiltshire Council’s budget, now is the moment to act.

📍 Wherever you live in Wiltshire: contact your local councillor and urge them to support increased highways investment, without the risks of long‑term borrowing. A short message from you genuinely can influence what happens next.
