A heartwarming evening for the Wilmslow Community Awards 2026, celebrating the incredible people who give up their time to make Wilmslow a better place.
We will share more in the coming weeks but, in the meantime, thank you to the The Rex Cinema Wilmslow for being fabulous hosts, and photographer Fred.
Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners - and THANK YOU for all you do 🌟

We are proud to share news that we have applied for planning permission to develop the former South Drive Toilet block to bring it back in to community use.

The toilet block was closed under the ownership of Cheshire East Council over ten years ago due to the costs of operating the facility and issues of anti-social behaviour.

Since that time, the building - which sits on a highly visible site in the town centre - has sat empty, deteriorated and provided no benefit to the community.

We are taking control of the facility and its immediate surroundings, via a long-term lease, in order to:

· Reintroduce modern public toilet facilities in the town centre

· Provide flexible space for the community

· Enhance the street scene around the building.

We have been working with local architects and building specialists to develop plans and visual designs that will transform the building into a valuable asset for the town centre, replacing what many residents have described in recent years as an eyesore.

We aim to appoint contractors in the Autumn with a view to opening the new facility in Spring / Summer 2027 and have allocated £285k in its budget for 2026-27 for the delivery of this project.

The two visuals form part of the planning application and show the enhanced external elevations, the improved setting for the building and the layout of both the externally accessible public toilet facilities and the flexible inside space.

Please visit our website for more information and a link to the planning application.

♦️Advice for the River Bollin, from Cheshire East Council♦️
"We advise you not to enter the river.
"The current can be very strong, and cleanliness of the water cannot be guaranteed; paddling, swimming or playing in the river is at your own risk."

We wanted to highlight the information in advance of Cinema on the Carrs 2026 and the Duck Race this Saturday.
Warning signs are already in place by the river and these additional signs are due to be installed by Cheshire East Council.
