St Stephen's CE Primary School Our school is at the heart of the village of Willington in County Durham. We provide a high quality of education, founded on a rich Christian ethos.

Our vision for St. Stephen’s Church of England Primary School is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which all members of the school community are encouraged to be 'the best that they can be' and be challenged to achieve their fullest potential. We are committed to offering an inspiring curriculum which is relevant to the needs of
our children and which will enable the knowledge, skills and values to be developed which are essential for children to lead fulfilling lives and make a positive contribution, as
adults in the 21st century. This will be developed through excellent teaching founded on knowledge of the needs of each individual, and supported by a strong Christian ethos
promoting values such as mutual respect and a strong sense of individual worth.

At St Stephen’s CE Primary School, we are committed to living out our Christian vision,
‘Let Your Light Shine’ (Matthew 5:16).
We truly believe that there is something potentially wonderful in everyone, and we are blessed to have such amazing children whose God-given gifts and talents enrich our school community every day. As part of our commitment to recognising and nurturing these gifts, we are delighted to introduce our new ‘Let Your Light Shine’ Gifts and Talents Celebration Worship this year. Every Friday, Mrs Richardson and Mrs Suddes will each select one child from Years 1 to 6 who has used their unique gifts, talents and qualities to make a positive difference to others and to our school community.
Alongside this, class teachers will award four weekly certificates recognising pupils who have demonstrated excellence in one of four key areas: Achievement, celebrating success and progress in learning; Active, recognising enthusiasm, participation and a positive approach to school life; Friendship, celebrating kindness, compassion and care for others; and Generosity, recognising those who have lived out our half-term Christian value through acts of service, encouragement and selflessness.
Throughout each day, Class Dojo points are used to celebrate a wide range of successes, including hard work, perseverance, excellent manners, kindness, effort, achievement and pride in presentation, while stickers and other rewards provide additional opportunities for recognition.
We are proud to be a school where every child is known, valued and celebrated. By nurturing each child’s individual strengths and recognising their many achievements, we help them flourish academically, spiritually and personally, enabling them to grow in confidence and truly let their light shine in our school, our community and the wider world.

We are committed to educating both the hearts and minds of our pupils.
We are delighted to be back at school and gathering together for worship once again. As a proud church school, we treasure these special moments to reflect, pray and grow as a community. Our daily invitational collective worship nurtures both the hearts and minds of our children, supporting their spiritual development and encouraging them to live out our shared values. We are committed to helping our pupils become kind, compassionate and thoughtful people. In Worship today, we welcomed our Enquiry Owls: through the use of our Enquiry Owls, pupils are inspired to ask big questions, think deeply and explore the world around them with curiosity and wonder.

🌟 Welcome Back! 🌟

We hope all of our families had a wonderful summer break.

It has been a joy to welcome our children back to St Stephen's. They have settled brilliantly and are already showing their new teachers the very best versions of themselves. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to helping every child discover and embrace their God-given gifts and talents as they continue to Let Their Light Shine.

A special welcome to our new Reception children, our new pupils who have joined us from other schools, and to Mrs Morris, who joins our team as our Year 1 teacher. We are delighted to welcome you all to the family of our church school.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are proud to work in partnership with our parents and carers to help every child flourish.
