Just a reminder that if you have injured wildlife please just bring it in 8am to 7.30pm. No need to call first, no appointments needed.

If you would like updates please WhatsApp us with your reference number and species and we will get back to you a little later in the week as we have been absolutely swamped over the weekend and we are playing catch-up at the moment.

Not here to distress or blame anyone, this was a genuine mistake. If you are transporting baby birds or any kind of wildlife please do not place water in the box.
These little pheasant chicks only travelled a couple of miles to get to us and in that time they fell into the water provided and probably will not live.
We have them in an incubator and working on them with a gentle hairdryer, but they were so cold and wet and have likely breathed in the water.

Always transport in a dry carrier or box, pop a flat folded towel on the bottom to prevent them slipping, make sure there is plenty of ventilation and no water containers.

We try to be positive, and appreiate this isn't a very upbeat post, but it may save a life or two.

Just for info, the best, most easily found household item to use as a water dish for tiny pecking chicks like pheasants and partridge is a small plastic milk bottle top, or a plastic pop bottle cap. Preferably a red one (they like the colour) until you can get them to a rescue. Always remove the water before transporting them.

Just a few days ago I was chatting to another sanctuary over on the north east, and I very foolishly said that we didn't have too many handfeeding birds in just yet... anyhooo this is just one of the batches of tiny hand feeders we now have in!
I shouldn't have said anything! 🤔
