As some of you are probably aware, a few weeks ago during the floods our fire station was severely affected. The station became totally unusable and now requires renovation. While these renovations are ongoing, Futamura have been extremely accommodating and have allowed us to keep our fire engine, equipment, and PPE on their site. We are extremely grateful for this support, which has allowed us to continue serving the community.

Cumbria Fire Service would like to extend a huge thank you to Futamura for their kindness and generosity.

‘Why should I close the doors of my house at night?’

This picture highlights the difference that closing your doors makes in the event of a fire.

Even a basic door with glass in can hold back a well developed fire, which may be the difference between a single room, or your whole house being destroyed in the event of a fire.

Tonight the crew teamed up with Aspatria crew to do some joint training, the two crews worked together to simulate an incident where one casualty was trapped under a vehicle and 3 others inside the vehicle needed treatment and extracted. The crews worked together to come up with a plan to remove the casualties in the safest and most efficient way and in order of importance due to the casualties injuries.

This afternoon some of the crew took the appliance to see the reception class at St. Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School. The kids got a good look around the engine and learned about all the equipment that firefighters use. The class had some great questions like “are you allowed to go though red lights?” And “Why are the sirens so loud?” Was brilliant to see them all so excited about firefighting.

There has been reports of children gathering around the pond area near the show fields and dog's off lead's.Please stay well away from open water and don't put others in danger.
We would like to encourage our community, including surrounding areas such as Aspartria,Silloth and Caldbeck,to share this message as well as the poster attached. In particular make children aware of the dangers of walking on ice in light of the tragic events at Solihull this week.
