π Men's Health Week π
Men's Health Week is an important opportunity to start conversations, challenge stigma and encourage men to take positive steps towards looking after their physical and mental wellbeing.
As we get older, looking after our health becomes increasingly important. For men aged 50 and over, regular health checks, staying active, maintaining social connections and seeking support when something doesn't feel right can all play a vital role in maintaining independence and quality of life.
Unfortunately, many men are still less likely to visit their GP, discuss health concerns or seek help when they need it. Whether it's putting symptoms down to "just getting older", feeling too busy, or simply not wanting to make a fuss, delaying support can sometimes allow small issues to become bigger problems.
Men are also more likely to experience loneliness and social isolation as they age, particularly following retirement, bereavement or changes in health. Staying connected to friends, family and the local community is just as important for wellbeing as looking after physical health.
This Men's Health Week, we encourage all men to make their health a priority. Book that appointment you've been putting off, have that conversation you've been avoiding, get moving, reconnect with old friends, or simply take some time to check in with yourself.
And if there's a man in your life who tends to put everyone else first, why not use this week as an opportunity to check in on him too?
Looking after your health isn't a sign of weakness, it's one of the most important investments you can make in your future.
