St Mark's CE Primary School

St Mark's CE Primary School St Mark's CE Primary School Welcome to our new School Page! In addition, we’ll let you know about other great things that happen in school.

We have updated this ready for the new academic year and will use this site to post notices, events and updates. We want to use social media to keep you informed of things in school and to celebrate all the fantastic things the pupils and staff do. We’ll also post examples of children’s work so that you can see the very high standards they are achieving. Please feel free to comment positively on t

he children’s achievements. Having a page will also help us to keep you up to date with important information you need. We all know that sometimes children forget to bring home letters, or that they get lost/left in school bags. So keep checking our page! We don’t want the page to be used to deal with concerns or enquiries. My worry is that important concerns, valid complaints or request for information might not get picked up in a timely manner, or be lost amongst other comments. If you do have a concern, complaint or enquiry, please get in touch with us at school so that we can make sure your questions are answered. We want to keep the page open for comments, but are concerned that it may be abused by others, outside of the school community. We ask that you don’t make any personal comments about children or staff on the page and that you inform us straight away if you spot something that may not be appropriate. Hopefully, the page will grow into something we all find valuable, informative and most of all enjoyable.

Wow, every class thoroughly enjoyed completing the circuit training with Danny Butler our Great Athlete. They showed great enthusiasm and resilience. He told us his story and the determination he had to become a British and World champion at his sport. We loved asking him questions.

This week the toddlers have been excited to begin our new term theme, Going on Holiday. We transformed our role-play area into a camping site, where the children have loved pretending to make and cook food on the campfire. We even enjoyed gathering around for a sing-song together!

We have also been talking about what we might take on holiday and practised packing a suitcase with different items. The children have learned about passports and why we need them when travelling. They then created their own passports, drawing self-portraits inside.

What a lovely first week of Summer 2 the 'Zog Tribe' have had!

Yesterday we took part in a design and technology day as part of our Kapow structures unit. Children learned all about the structures of boats. We made predictions in our writing books, sorted out materials between floating and sinking and constructed our own boats before testing them out and of course took them home for more testing.

Elmers will be reading ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’ this half term. Today, they predicted what the story is about. They discussed if it is a fact or fiction, and were amazed after they found out that the book is based on a true story. They practiced writing sentences based on their findings using subordinating conjunctions.
