✨ Libraries Change Lives Week 2026 ✨

At Wigan Libraries, we see every day how powerful stories can be—and Manuela’s is one that truly inspires.❤️

A regular visitor to Lamberhead Green Library, Manuela has always loved reading, especially magical adventures and imaginative tales that spark her creativity. Her passion for books, nurtured through library visits with her family, led her to write her very own story.✍️📖

After being inspired by a talk from Wigan and Leigh Hospice, Manuela decided to turn her love of storytelling into something incredible—writing and selling her book to raise money for the hospice, supporting their vital work in the local community.

Following her amazing fundraising efforts, Wigan libraries invited Manuela to her local library, Lamberhead Green, where she shared her story with a group of children —bringing her journey full circle and inspiring the next generation of readers and writers. 📚✨

And her journey doesn’t stop there! We’re delighted to support Manuela as she continues her fundraising at:

🎄Wigan and Leigh Hospice’s Christmas Fair at Leigh library on Saturday 5th December 2026

Manuela’s story is a wonderful example of how libraries don’t just lend books—they build confidence, inspire creativity, and help young people make a real difference in the communities.

Join us at Leigh Library for a sociable evening with travel writer and author Chris Moss. 23rd July 6.30-8.00pm

Chris will discuss his book Lancashire: Exploring the Historic County that made the Modern World, exploring how Lancashire helped shape modern life—from transport and leisure to the arts—while also reflecting on his personal connection to the county and what it means to return home after years away.

Chris will also celebrate the release of Where Tourists Seldom Tread: Postcards from Bypassed Britain, inviting us to move away from the preference for major cities and rural idylls and to consider the hidden treasures of Britain's bypassed towns.

Ticket includes a hotpot supper served by Hunnibunz Catering, tea and coffee will also be available.

Come along to Aspull Library and enjoy an exciting gaming experience with The Station Wagon Mobile Gaming Van!
🕹️ What to Expect:
• Play your favourite video games in a fully equipped gaming van
• Free to play – no booking required
• Just speak to a member of staff on arrival to reserve your slot
⏰ Session Times:
• First session: 10:00am
• Last session: 11:30am
• Each session lasts 30 minutes

• Suitable for ages 7+
