📢 Leigh Pride in Place Programme – Call for Projects! 📢

The Leigh Neighbourhood Board is inviting local people, community groups, charities and businesses to share ideas for exciting projects that will make a real, positive difference to the local area. If you need funding to get started, this is your opportunity!

💡 Two funding streams are now open:

🔹 The Leigh Fund - applications are invited from Leigh’s residents, businesses, public sector organisations, charities, community and voluntary groups, for projects that transform how people see and experience our town and/or create a safe and welcoming town. This fund is for medium to large projects (both capital and revenue)

🔹 The Community Fund - applications are invited from the community and voluntary sector for small scale community-led activity that builds pride, cohesion and connections. This fund will provide grants of up to £2,000 (revenue).

⭐ Another success with Match My Project ⭐

DC Electrical Solutions were quick to respond to a project listed on Match My Project from Shevington Sharks ARLFC. The fuse in their defibrillator was tripping and they needed some support and expertise to help it to be fixed.

The defibrillator is now fixed and in full working order. Shevington Sharks shared this feedback 'DC Electrical were very professional and we can highly recommend them'

🚐✨ Wigan Borough Volunteer Hub on Tour – Final Stop!

Today marks the final stop of our Volunteer Hub Tour at Leigh Library and what a great way to wrap it up! 🙌 We were delighted to be joined by Rachel from Wigan & Leigh Hospice, highlighting some amazing ways to get involved in your community. 💙

The Hospice has a wide range of flexible volunteering opportunities, including:

🤝 Corporate volunteering days
🛍️ Supporting local charity shops across the borough

🚐 Wigan Borough Volunteer Hub on Tour 🚐

Yesterday we visited Wigan Library. We had a lovely catch up with Gail and Carol from Wigan and Leigh Pensioners Link, who were speaking with visitors about volunteering opportunities for their brilliant Books and More Service 📚

This wonderful service supports people who are unable to get to their local library by delivering and collecting books directly to them. It goes beyond books too – offering a friendly chat and helping people connect with other activities and services in the community.

Even better, they already have two new people interested in getting involved as volunteers!
