☀️ Looking after your lawn during the current dry spell ☀️
With the hot, dry weather continuing across the UK, a lot of people are asking what they should be doing to keep their lawn healthy.
Here are a few simple tips:
🌱 Water deeply, not little and often – If you’re going to water, give the lawn a good soak early in the morning or late in the evening. A light sprinkle each day encourages shallow roots.
🚫 Don’t cut it too short – Raise your mower height. Longer grass shades the soil, helping it retain moisture and protecting the roots from the sun.
💚 Don’t panic if it turns brown – Grass naturally goes dormant in prolonged hot weather. It isn’t dead! Once we get some decent rainfall, most lawns will green up again.
❌ Hold off on scarifying or aggressive treatments – These are best left until cooler, wetter conditions return.
Patience is key. A brown lawn in summer is completely normal, and with the right care it should recover when the rain returns.
