The Widnes Royal British Legion are hosting a community fun day in Victoria Park Widnes on Sunday 4th May between 12pm and 4pm.
The event is to remember the 80th anniversary of VE &VJ days and will consist of a short service of remembrance at the cenotaph involving local schools children, followed by a free family fun day including
Free Inflatable assault course
Free face painting
Rides (small charge)
Stalls and military displays
Haydock male voice choir will be performing on the day too.
The event is free of charge and open to all so please feel free to share and come down and support us on the day.

Had the honour of joining the Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club and Bradford Bulls on the pitch with other local veterans and local cadets before today’s game. This was organised by the Vikings for their Armed Forces Day to show their honour and respect for the towns armed forces community. Great day and more importantly a win for Widnes.

Branch members had a great trip to National Memorial Arboretum for Royal Artillery service of remembrance. Great to see Gunners past and present form up and the unveiling of a new statue in the RA garden.

Been a great day at Crossfields ARLFC, Warrington Armed Forces day. The bears name has been drawn and winner announced. Thanks to all who have been to visit the Widnes Gunners and have a chat to us.

80 years ago today just after midnight thousands of allied troops had parachuted behind the Atlantic wall in France supported by glider borne troops to hold key objectives and help slow reinforcements to the beach heads.
At approximately 06:30 the landings in assault craft on the beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword began. The fight to free Europe from N**i occupation was underway.
By the end of D-Day allied casualties were estimated at 10,000 with over 4,000 confirmed dead.

Branch standard on parade for ANZAC day in Warrington.
Warrington has a number of ANZACS buried in the cemetery. During the First World War Winwick hospital was used as a military hospital.
