FYI

The government has announced today that it will be reviewing plans to streamline local government to ensure they are robust and align with new government priorities.

A decision related to Peterborough and Cambridgeshire will be considered as part of the review with no timescales shared currently but the review is set to take place over the coming months. Once timescales are known they will be shared.

As a result, local elections in May 2027 will take place on existing boundaries, with a third of seats contested instead of all out elections.

Council Leader, Councillor Shabina Qayyum, said she understands the need for the review and that it’s important the Government takes its time so that the best outcome possible, with robust and clear decision making, can be achieved for everyone, most importantly residents.

DIY question. Anyone changed the lock/barrel on their patio slave door? I have taken off the metal strip thinking the screws would be hidden underneath to remove the plastic panel so I can gain access to screw for the barrel. However having removed metal strip there is nothing and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the panel off. Anyone changed theirs yet and can give a hint? Photo shows the metal strip back on.

We have a message from a concerned resident “I live in the original part of Snowley park which backs onto Glenfields and can smell gas very strongly outside - I could initially smell it in my house so have reported a suspected gas leak. Can you please post to the group to ask if anyone else can smell it / to be cautious and vigilant please?”

“Hello Neighbours. We live at 146 Snowley and one of our black cats with a red/pinky collar has hidden herself away somewhere she is poorly and feeling very sorry for herself. If anyone has seen her since around 8pm last night could you drop a message please. It's likely she's hiding under a bush or in undergrowth somewhere. Thank you. Jo”
