Caron and the team were out in West Allotment today for a productive litter pick! 💚♻️

As the Green Party’s lead campaigner in Shiremoor and West Allotment, Caron is passionate about keeping the neighbourhood tidy, protecting the environment and working hard to make a difference for the local community.

Thanks to all the local members who joined today’s big tidy up; what a team effort. If you see us out and about on future litter picks, pop over and say hello; we’ve always got spare gear and the more the merrier! 💪

Spread the word and join our UNITY RALLY with Stand up to Racism Newcastle on Saturday 13th June when the far right racists of ‘Unite the Right’ are planning to come to our city with their message of hatred and division.

Join us to once again demonstrate that:
- Newcastle is black and white and brown!
- We are the anti-racist majority!
- We say no to racism, no to hate!
- Refugees are welcome here!

Among our rally speakers will be former North of Tyne Mayor and now recently elected Green councillor for Monument ward, Jamie Driscoll.

Our city is a diverse and tolerant city of sanctuary where we offer support to welcome those in need and a culture of inclusivity, solidarity and compassion.

Fascinating to watch the vital National Emergency Briefing at Whitley Bay Big Local last night! 💚🎥

Councillors Helen and Martin, along with many local members, attended a screening of the new film, which sets out the risks facing the UK – and the credible, positive responses available – as explained by experts in climate, health, food security, economics and more. To find hopeful solutions to these challenges, locally and nationally, it’s so valuable to hear and discuss expert testimony; Helen and Martin will be asking North Tyneside Council to host a screening and Alan Campbell MP to push for the film to be shared nationally.

North Tyneside shines brightest when everyone is welcome! 🌈💡

This Pride Month we're celebrating LGBTQ+ communities across the North East and highlighting the fantastic Pride events taking place throughout June. From community events and family activities to marches, talks and celebrations, Pride is a chance to come together, celebrate diversity and stand up for equality.

Some upcoming events include:

🌈 Sunderland Pride
Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th June
The weekend includes a "Pride Concert Fundraiser" on Saturday 6th June at 6pm at Sheepfolds Stables, leading into city-wide marches and celebrations.

🌈 South Tyneside Pride
Monday 8th to Sunday 14th June
Celebrations feature community workshops, exhibitions, and activities across local venues.

🌈 Durham Trans Pride
Saturday 13th June
Starting at 12 midday at the Wharton Park Putting Green.

🌈 Bishop Auckland Pride
Saturday 13th June
Begins 2pm at Bishop Auckland College. A family-friendly community event featuring live entertainment.

Helen and Martin reflect on their first weeks as Green councillors! 💚🎉

They’ve both hit the ground running: attending their first council meeting, litterpicking, joining protests and answering resident’s casework. As North Tyneside’s first ever Green councillors, there’s a long road ahead, but they’re both excited to see what can be achieved, working in partnership with their communities in North Shields and Whitley Bay. ⛵🏖️
