We are a group of Radio Amateurs who feel that James Clerk Maxwell's contribution to science in general and the way we communicate as Radio Amateurs in particular has been greatly overlooked, so we decided to form The James Clerk Maxwell RS

First a big thank you to those who joined the throng at Parton Kirk both yesterday and today for the GB2JCM special event station in honour of the birth of James Clark Maxwell on 13th. June 1831. We spent both days on the 40 meter band and a really good number of contacts were made on both days. We used the Society's Icom ic-718 through the IT-100 auto tuner and thus out through the end fed half wave length antenna which Clive (GM4FZH) checked with his antenna analyser and it proved to be an excellent low SWR on a good number of the bands.

When Richard (MM1BHO) and Ralph (2M0RHT) met at the church to ensure everything was up and running on Friday afternoon we were able to make a QSO with a radio operator in Israel who gave us 5 and 7. The bands however were not behaving well on Saturday or Sunday but despite this we had contacts mostly in the UK and near continent. Strange thing was that two QRP stations, one in Surrey with 3 watts and the other on the English Chanel coast with 4 watts came back to our CQ calls. I think I am right in stating that yesterday we had eight folk and today we had six operators a total of fourteen people in total. It was good to have two new friends who braved the mic and joined the fun. Well done, we all start with the first tentative pressing of the PTT.

Richard will put up the QSO's on line when he is able to do so this week.

These special event days are put on for you and I would encourage you to join us on the next exciting adventure at Parton Kirk or at Springholm Hall on the 4th. July.

Kind regards as always Ralph 2M0RHT
