So, minimal publicity due to Staff absences but we're back and in full swing!
Firstly, our OC and 4 Cadets attended 632 Volunteer Gliding Squadron on Sunday 3 May at RAF Woodvale so as to gain air experience in the Cadet Viking TMk1 gliders. The weather was dubious to start but after the Cadets completed their Safety drills, an opportunity to fly came and all 4 of our Cadets - and our OC - got the chance to fly! Our Cadets got 2 winch-launched sorties whilst our OC got just the one, but what a thrill to all! The long day ended with all Cadets achieving their flight experiences towards their Blue Wings. Congrats to Cdts Bobby Barlow, Archie Groom, Babur Sayyed and Jacob Wilson-McLean πŸ‘
Just this weekend past, 30 May, Cdt Bobby Barlow got the opportunity to attend as a Wing representative at the Inter-Services Cadet Shotgun shoot at Donnington, Telford. Having undergone and qualified in safe weapon handling skills training on a previous course weekend, Barlow was re-assessed on his weapon-handling and then participated in the shoot with skilled Shotgun Staff supervising. The Wing Team came away with some prizes with the help of Barlow's shoot and, additionally, he left with a West Mercian Wing Shooting Blue - well done Bobby!

Over the weekend of 25/26 April, several of our Cadets travelled to RAF Shawbury and attended multiple courses run by Staff drawn from our sister Squadrons within our Sector. Congratulations to Cdts Barlow, Ellis and McDougall for achieving their Bronze First Aid; Cdts Ryan and William Radcliffe on gaining their Blue Fieldcraft; and Sgt Stimpson for her Bronze Comms - well done all! Our thanks to the RAF Shawbury ATC Sqn for hosting the event, the Staff from all over the Sector who ran the courses and our parents who got the Cadets there πŸ‘
During our Parade evening this week, we had the opportunity to award these Cadets with their badges - where applicable - but also to award certificates for many of the courses run within our own Sqn over the past few months.
More importantly, we had great pleasure in promoting Felicity Stimpson to the rank of cadet Flight Sergeant after her recent courses, and her dedication within the Sqn. Time to keep her sister on her toes 😁
