As part of Operation Nighthawk, PC 1222 joined licensing officers conducting visits around licensed premises.

This included engaging with members of staff and continuing to support night time economy staff to keep Weymouth town centre safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Foot patrol was conducted in Weymouth town centre last night and tonight as part of Op Nighthawk, Weymouth officers issues four section 35s to members of the public who were being antisocial, as well as the seizure of a motorbike under section 59 which was driving anti-socially.

Op Nighthawk operates in Weymouth town centre every Friday and Saturday night, come and say hello to us if you see us out and about 👋

Dorset Police were thrilled to be invited to Weymouth College Freshers Fair today,
speaking with students and raising awareness of the Dorset Alert system and the
benefits of staying informed about local policing, crime prevention and community safety updates.

It was also a fantastic opportunity to work alongside our partner agencies,
highlighting the support and services available to young people across Dorset.
Building strong relationships within our communities is key to keeping people safe and informed.

Officers from Weymouth and Portland NPT have been investigating a series of Moped thefts which have occurred between the 1st - 2nd of SEPTEMBER 2026.

On Thursday evening, two mopeds made off from officers around 9pm on the Rodwell Trail. One rider decamped his bike, and it was recovered by officers.
The second stolen bike was today recovered by officers in Aragon Close, Wyke Regis.

We are pleased to reunite the bikes with their owners, but the offenders remain outstanding.

NPT remind Moped owners, to consider adding additional security to bikes, especially if left on the road overnight.

You Said, We Did!

Following concerns raised by local residents and businesses about youths gaining access to a derelict property on Portland, PCSO 7872 worked with the relevant agencies and property representatives to have the premises secured and boarded up.

✅ The property has now been made safe, helping to prevent unauthorised access and reducing the risk of injury or harm.
Thank you to everyone who reported their concerns. By working together, we can help keep our young people safe and make our community a safer place for all.

On Friday afternoon a male was trying to steal from numerous shops in Weymouth town centre, but was not successful. Because of his behaviour he was issued with a Dispersal Notice, banning him from the town centre for 24 hours. unfortunately he chose to return to the area, and at 1030 on Saturday morning he was arrested on The Esplanade for breaching that Dispersal Notice. Overnight a warrant had also been issued by the courts for his arrest as he had failed to appear in court in London, for shoplifting, and so he was arrested for that warrant also. While he was in custody over the weekend, awaiting the next court, we were able to obtain the evidence for another shoplifting that they were reported to have been responsible for and so he has been charged with that one as well.
This afternoon another male was reported to have stolen 3 bottles of spirits from a shop in town. He was located a short distance away and 4 bottles of spirits were recovered from his bag. This male will be summonsed to court shortly.
We will continue to work with shops, the BID, Community Safety Team and Council CCTV to pursue those who choose to commit crime in the town. Where they do not get the message, we will seek Criminal Behaviour Orders to prevent them from continuing to commit crime.

APPEAL | Officers investigating a report of a spiking in Weymouth are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report that a woman aged in her 20s had been spiked at a venue in The Esplanade during the early hours of Sunday 30 August 2026.

It was further reported that the woman subsequently sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

Detective Sergeant Ben Turner, of County CID, said: “A full investigation has been launched into this incident and the victim continues to be supported by officers.

“We are carrying out enquiries to establish how the victim sustained her injuries and understand the full circumstances of what happened.

“As a result of CCTV enquiries we have established some of the victim’s movements, but we are now keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity on the beach or captured dashcam footage while travelling in the area of The Esplanade, specifically between the King’s Statue and Alexandra Gardens between 1.30am and 2am.

“We appreciate this incident may cause concern for the public and our officers can be approached by anyone with any information or concerns.”

👮‍♀️ Community Engagement in Chickerell
Today, our PCSO 7872 attended the grand opening of the new Willowbed Village Hall in Chickerell.

It was fantastic to connect with members of the local community and see first-hand what a wonderful space has been created for residents to enjoy.

The hall is a real asset for the area and will no doubt become the heart of many community activities and events.

It was also a pleasure to meet the Mayor and Mayoress and discuss some of the concerns and priorities of local residents.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Chickerell community.

If you are out and start to feel unwell, please speak to bar staff as soon as possible as they will be able to help.

Always report spiking to the police, the sooner it is reported, the better the chance of capturing evidence!

🚔 Positive result in Weymouth

Officers recently assisted with the ex*****on of an eviction notice at a property in Weymouth following ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood concerns linked to squatters.
During the eviction, officers recovered a bicycle that had been reported missing less than 24 hours earlier. The owner was quickly identified and PC 1218 and PC 367 were pleased to return the bike to its rightful owner within a day of it being reported stolen.
A great example of proactive policing leading to a positive outcome for both the victim and the local community. ✅🚲
