Yesterday PC Arnold and PC Golder were on our daily Good Safe Summer patrols in the town centre. Despite the threatening clouds and having a quick dash for cover at one point we had a good day patrolling, engaging with members of public and local businesses. Towards the end of the day we assisted our CSAS (Council Community Safety) colleagues who had detained a shoplifter with a number of stolen goods from several stores in town. She was also responsible for shoplifting in Chickerell last week which we referred to in our previous post, doesn't look like she's getting the point. Despite her complaints that we were being unfair, she was arrested. She has now been charged and has conditions not to enter the town, as well as the stores in Chickerell last week.

Weymouth and Portland NPT late turn officers have been on patrols this evening in the town centre.

At the start of the shift, officers were made aware of three young adults who had stolen alcohol from Tesco, St Thomas Street. They were quickly detained, and the alcohol recovered without even being opened! Parents have been made aware, and they will be interviewed at a later date.

Later in the shift we sighted a male, who had the better of us two days ago. On that occasion, he had given his brothers details, which showed nothing of note. A little bit of research showed that the person we had actually stopped had was wanted on a recall to prison.... Today he wasn't so lucky when we spotted him again near Swannary Bridge. Back off to prison.

Weymouth and Portland Officers have been patrolling today in Weymouth Town Centre, as a part of our operation.

We have identified hotspots around Weymouth, which we believe could benefit from extra foot patrols.

One of those areas is Brunswick Terrace, off The Esplanade.

Over summer this, and other hotspots will see increased high visibility patrols from our team, every day.

Tonight our team searched and seized alcohol off two males who had shoplifted. The team removed two youths from the town centre who had tried to steal from a store. Later in the shift they moved on a drunk female causing ASB from Westham Road.

We will be back on patrol again tomorrow.

Officers have continued with our Good Safe Summer patrols over this weekend. As part of the Neighbourhood Guarantee we are focussing our attention on shoplifting as we recognise the impact this has on businesses and the wider impact that this can have on anti-social behaviour, especially where those involved are trying to take alcohol.

On Saturday two individuals were located in Chickerell following complaints of persons shoplifting from the Co-Op and Aldi. They were found in possession of a number of stolen goods, arrested and have subsequently been charged for these offences.....we allowed them to keep their one tin of soup they had paid for.

Then this afternoon we dealt with an incident in the town centre following two females who have entered a store and attempted to leave with a quantity of alcohol but were stopped and challenged by staff. This stemmed from an incident a week ago where one of the females had left with some alcohol that she stole. We know who these individuals are and will be paying them a visit fairly soon.

Our ongoing plea to local businesses is to please continue reporting these offences to us, we will take action regardless of the value that has been stolen, this will deter further offending and wider anti-social behaviour in the town.
