Sprinklers Group Trusted UK Leaders in Certified Fire Sprinkler Protection. Domestic Sprinklers Ltd was formed in 2000 by Colin Taylor MD.

It was formed as a specialist fire sprinkler company to work in the residential and domestic sprinkler markets. At the time of the formation there were only two other companies in the UK working in the same market and approx. 15 companies working in the commercial market. The R&D market did not really exist as such in the early days of the company so for the first two years the main activity was t

o build the market and working with Sir George Pigot from the RSA we pioneered the R&D industry. During 2003 we won a major contract with Dorset County Council and retro fitted sprinkler systems into all of their Care Homes. This was a first in the industry and led to the company being awarded a contract with BUPA for over 20 care homes. The domestic market place was building fast and by the end of 2004 we had completed 1500 installations into domestic homes. There were some notable installations during the companies development including 4 projects for Grand Designs, 2 for Sarah Beenys Home Improvement program and 3 winning projects for the Observer Design Awards. We formed partnerships with Building Control departments and delivered CPD talks to them in return for being nominated as approved installers. We also formed official partnerships with 7 Fire Brigades including Hampshire, Dorset and Cornwall. We supported all of these with running live burn demos and have to date installed 12 systems to properties which have had controlled live burns to show the effectiveness of sprinklers. For almost 3 years we worked with Hampshire F&RS doing monthly live burns at their Eastleigh HQ. These demos were attended by MP’s and Key Government personnel all with a view to promoting the use of sprinklers. In 2008 the commercial industry finally acknowledged that there was a separate R&D industry and that it was building fast. We were the only remaining original company at this stage and as such Colin Taylor was invited to join BAFSA on their Council. This was a major event in that it gave a voice to the R&D industry and gained support from the wider sprinkler industry in the UK. The company continued to grow and in 2012 we were appointed by BAFSA and the BRE to carry out the first retro fit High Rise installation in Europe. This proved to the Country that it was not only possible to install a system without disturbing the residents but it was also cost effective. This led to a large number of similar projects by the company and is now standard practice in the industry. The company continues to grow and has now branched out with 11 regional offices this allows costs to be kept to a standard and also service levels can be ensured. Offering a full design and installation service for Domestic, residential and light commercial fire sprinkler systems, Domestic Sprinklers currently employ 4 in house designers. This morning we received a call reporting that one of our sprinkler systems had activated and successfully extinguished a fire.

An unattended candle had fallen over, setting fire to a tenant’s T-shirt. Thankfully, the sprinkler head activated, controlling and extinguishing the fire before it could spread further.

Our team attended today, replaced the activated sprinkler head and had the system fully operational again the same day.

A great example of why correctly designed, installed and maintained sprinkler systems can make such a crucial difference when a fire occurs.

Earlier this week a fire broke out on the 8th floor of a Bristol high-rise. The sprinkler system we designed and installed activated exactly as intended, containing the fire, safeguarding the tenant, and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.

A huge thank you to Avon Fire & Rescue Service, Bristol City Council and our team for their coordinated efforts in bringing the situation quickly under control.

Another powerful reminder of the vital role sprinklers play in safeguarding lives and property.

🔥 Sprinklers Stop High Rise Fire 🔥

Last week, a sprinkler system we designed and installed activated during a kitchen fire in a Southampton high rise. The system contained the fire to a single room, stopping it from spreading and enabling firefighters to bring the incident quickly under control.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service praised the sprinkler system for working exactly as intended.

✅ Fire contained to the kitchen
✅ Residents kept safe
✅ Two cats rescued

It’s moments like this that highlight the difference sprinklers can make to people’s safety and wellbeing.
