Weston Wheels

Weston Wheels Weston Wheels was a legal and officially sanctioned modified car cruise in Weston-super-Mare running from 2001 until 2005 inclusive.

As a fully sanctioned event it has the full support of the local council, local police,as well as local, national traders and car magazines. Weston Wheels was run by cruisers for cruisers and was the first official event of it’s kind in the UK leading the way for others to follow its highly acclaimed success. Just follow the link to the website to find out more. It was started as an alternative fo

r cruisers who had no other choice but to gather in local car parks within the town, growing from humble beginnings with only 8,000 people attending the first year and finishing with over 3 times as many in the final year. This page is purely to redirect you to our site which is is a dedication to all things Weston Wheels and to each of the events that took place that were truly unique in it’s own right as each year the event was built around the cars attending. One week there was a flattened airfield and the following week there was a full infrastructure of refreshments, toilets, camping facilities, first aid, entertainment, djs, trade stands, club stands, competition areas, chill out zones and funfairs. Built from scratch each year helped keep each event truly unique and ensured that returning visitors would never get bored with the same format or boring layout. If you have any footage of Weston Wheels, videos, pictures, etc, that you are happy for us to use on this site, please send them to us

And finally one last Shout Out to everyone involved who helped make the events truly great, whether you helped for one hour, one event, or all five, no matter what your role was, on site staff and volunteers giving their time willinginly, contractors, traders, DJ’s, Dancers, Owners and attendees – none of it would have been possible without your involvement and support – and for this we are truly thankful.

It has come to our attention that a person or persons is attempting to resurect the Weston Wheels event within the Weston super Mare area.

To set the record straight:

This attempt is not by the original organisers or any persons known to them or involved with the events which took place between 2001 and 2005. We have, nor we will we have any affiliation with this or any other event of a similar name or style held in the Weston area (we retired from event management years ago).

The use of our logo and some of the images held on this site is without our permission or backing and we would ask those that are using them to refrain from doing so and also the similarity to our event and not to bounce off our 5 great years, by all means run your own event and we wish you all the success just earn the admiration like we did by starting from the bottom.

It is also noted that several people have tried to resurrect the original event and although similar car show events do run very successfully in the local area non have attempted to use our name, logo or reputation they have all done it on there own merits from the ground up quite successfully.

We would also advise that the final event in 2005 drew a crowd of 25’000 people and 10’000 vehicles to the town and that it cost several hundred thousand pounds to put together. We would imagine that both the local council and police would advise against using the original name for the event or the events reputation just in case they all came back thinking it was something that it will not be.

Thank you for your time and please enjoy reminiscing about the original Weston Wheels events here:

A dedication to Weston Wheels Modified Car Festival

It has been 12 years since the last Weston Wheels event took place, and I know that many still have fond memories of our 5 events and would love to see the return of the show.

As much as it was a huge success, its success was also its downfall with over 25,000 people attending the last event with 14,000 cars entering the site on the main day.

Being a car show, most attendees want to show off their cars, so the problems of traffic had become huge and despite our best efforts it takes a lot of time to arrange cars as part of the show.

Unfortunately we couldn't just have a huge car park, people wanted to be together as a club or stand in the best spots which made the flow of traffic very slow into the site, snarling up the local roads and causing traffic chaos for attendees and locals alike.

That aside, the costs involved in building the event were significant as it was an open field with no services. Everything from fencing to toilets, water, power, offices and lighting had to be brought onto site and setup before we could add in stages, trade stands, shows and the like.

Security, policing and medical cover was also a cost factor. Due to the nature of the event and age of most of the attendees we were required to supply more police cover, more medical cover and more scurity than the average event. On top of this people flooded into town before and after the event be it cruising around or for a night out, many also camped on the beach and we had to allow for all of this in the planning and cover local authority costs where necessary.

Lastly and now 12 years on, the site that we originally used is no longer in existence and is now being built on a furious rate with houses and businesses already up and running and to find a site of a similar size close to the M5 with good road access is rare.

We were sad to end it all when we did, but we had a fantastic 5 years running the event and it has spawned many smaller events which continue today across the area and nation wide.

It had its time and place but as I said its huge success was ultimately its downfall.

Thank you for al the kind comments and fond memories and we hope you enjoy reminiscing about the event for many years to come and if you have any footage or photos you would like us to add please message us directly.

Whilst you remember it fondly please do not use our brand or logo.
