Our AFA is a crucial part of our community! School budgets are extremely tight and this wonderful team of parents help to raise much needed funds to pay for books, equipment and extra curricular trips and events! We would love to have more volunteers, as the good old saying goes….many hands make light work!
Please do come along to support our fantastic AFA 🥰

Ashcombe Friends Association will be holding our AGM on Monday 14th September at 6pm in the Turner Hall, and we’d love to welcome any parents or carers who are interested in finding out more about what we do, have some ideas you would like to share — or even fancy joining our team.
We’ll be allocating all major roles for the year at this meeting, and we’re always excited to bring new people on board. All volunteers are welcome, no matter how big or small the time you can offer. The more hands we have, the more fantastic events we can run for Ashcombe Primary School families.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, along with a friendly, warm welcome. We hope to see you there.

Year 2 took part in an exciting online author event and were the third group in the country to hear Julia Donaldson's brand-new book, The Gruffalo Granny. We also took part in a drawing activity led by Axel Scheffler and enjoyed creating our own pictures of the Gruffalo's Granny.

Really lovely to see the first children come in to use our Universal Free Breakfast Club this morning. There's no need to register beforehand. Just bring your child or children in from 8 am until 8:20, we'll get them signed in. They can then have some breakfast, play with friends and do some sport outside. 😍🥰🤩

TOMORROW MORNING:
INSET Day Classroom Optional Drop-In Session – Friday 4th September 9:00-9:30am

We're really looking forward to seeing the children come back and/or begin their Ashcombe journey after a long, hot summer.

Friday 4th September is an INSET Day, and we are delighted to offer families the optional opportunity to visit school before the start of the new term.

This is a great chance for children to reacquaint themselves with their new classroom, meet their teacher, and catch up with friends ahead of the first day back.

All classrooms will be open from 9:00am to 9:30am, and the session is open to children in all year groups. We hope this informal visit will help children feel settled, confident and excited for the year ahead.

Please see the poster attached detailing where the children’s classrooms are, staff will be on the gates to help if needed.

Really Important Information regarding Free School Meal Eligibility!! Please please read.....

Due to the change in FSM eligibility starting this term (previously emailed to all parents) you will need to re-apply for Free School Meals - If you feel that your child should be in receipt of FSM or has previously been entitled to Free School Meals then you will need to re-apply directly via the FSM checker by registering with the following website and completing the form directly: https://fsm.lgfl.net/

You can complete a Microsoft form here and school will be able to check eligibility on your behalf: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/rrRyBNJTXs?origin=lprLink

If you apply directly to the https://fsm.lgfl.net/ website, you will be given an outcome decision immediately, however, if you complete the form for school to check then this may take a little longer for you to be notified of the result.

If you do not complete this form then you will automatically be placed on Paid School Meals unless your child is in YR - Y2 where Universal FSM are in place.

It was a really emotional end to the day saying goodbye to our Y6s during their guard of honour. Thank you to all the parents, carers and dinosaurs who joined us to greet the children as they walked out. 🥰😍🤩
