📢 Budget Preparations for 2026/2027

Weston-super-Mare Town Council is hosting an initial 2 Budget Consultation sessions – and we want to hear from YOU!

Our budget is shaped by the community. We're strongly influenced by what local people have to say about Weston and we're keen to listen and respond to your suggestions and concerns to help us plan and prioritise our spending.

📅 Join us in person. Both sessions will take place at our offices:

📍32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, BS23 1LN

▪ Monday 10th November – 2pm to 4pm (48 spaces available)
▪ Wednesday 26th November – 6pm to 8pm (48 spaces available)

Please note numbers are limited to strictly 2 per household and will be on a first come first served basis.

We will have cake and balloons to celebrate so please come down and join us.
If you have never experienced ParkPlay then please come along & enjoy a morning of fun games that include all the family.
We start at around 9.30am and finish at 11am.

If you can't get to us at 9.30am or you have to leave a little early or your children want to go over to the play area that's fine too.

Today is Playday 🛝

Playday is the national day for play, a celebration of children’s right to play, held every year on the first Wednesday in August. This year’s theme is 'Spaces for play': https://www.playengland.org.uk/newsblog/playday-2025-spaces-for-play

The theme highlights the vital importance of accessible, inclusive spaces where children and teenagers have opportunities to play freely, spending time, and connecting with friends – and feel valued as part of their community.

Weston-super-Mare Town Council manages 22 play areas, here is a spotlight on a few you may want to visit and enjoy this -

Ellenborough Park West Wellbeing Park:

👉 Ellenborough Park West is a wellbeing park, allowing for outside yoga, meditation, picnics, events and for children to play. The park is a sanctuary that enables people to come and sit, read a book, have a picnic with friends and family and generally enjoy this unique space.

Every Move Matters 🚶

This NHS campaign highlights how small, regular movements can build a stronger, healthier future.

Starting with simple movements could be the first step towards reaching the Chief Medical Officers physical activity guidelines which recommend that adults should aim for 150 minutes a week (just 20 minutes a day).

Movement looks different for everyone, from walking the dog to dancing in the kitchen, to enjoying time here at our play park! is a call to action – there is no wrong way to move, only your way. Everyone is encouraged to find their own way to move more and to recognise the strength they are building along the way.

👨‍🦽 Every Move Matters – any movement is better than none, even short bouts of activity add up and contribute to overall health.
🏀 Move More, sit less – break up long periods of sitting with light activity to reduce the risk of health issues like heart disease.
🚶Start small, build up – begin with what you can manage and gradually increase over time.

Play Safe!

We love seeing children of all ages enjoying the park, but it’s important to remember, not all equipment is suitable for every child.

🔹 Supervise your child at all times.
🔹 Choose equipment that matches their abilities.
🔹 Encourage safe play—no climbing where it’s not designed, and always take turns!

By following these simple guidelines, we can ensure every child has a fun and safe experience. We want children to play together, safely! (While of course having as much fun as possible!)
