Calling all veterans, serving personnel, reservists, cadets, emergency services personnel and community supporters!

This year’s “Raise the Flag, Honour the Covenant” Ceremony and Armed Forces & Emergency Services Day events are an opportunity for our whole community to stand together in recognition of service and sacrifice.

We would especially love to see a strong turnout for the Saturday parade which leaves from the Grand Pier at 10am, ending at the Tropicana. Whether you served many years ago, are currently serving, work within the emergency services, are part of the cadet forces, or simply want to show your support, your presence matters.

These events are about unity, respect and community pride.

Bring your standards, your berets, your medals and your families. Join us as we celebrate the people who serve our country and communities every day.

Let’s make this year’s events a proud and memorable show of support from across our community.

Enjoy Don’t Destroy!

This Half Term we want to encourage our community and residents to help stop vandalism in their Parks and Play Areas. When vandalism happens, it effects everyone, especially the children and families who use these parks.

Every broken swing, damaged bench, graffiti clean-up, or destroyed multi-play, takes away not only vital funds to maintain and improve these spaces, but the chance for children to learn, make new friends and enjoy being outdoors and active.

Help us protect your parks by reporting vandalism when you see it:

🔹 Police Non-Emergency: 101
🔹 Immediate Danger: 999
🔹 CCTV Control Room – 01934 634700

Found broken equipment? E-mail [email protected] or call 01934 632567

Protect play for everyone this Half Term.

Play Area Refurbishments, You Said We Did!

Last Friday, we gave you a glimpse into one of our upcoming major Play Area Refurbishments taking place this Summer, Coniston Green! Today, we want to talk to you about what will be happening at The Maltlands.

During the consultation process, the community highlighted to us what was important to them, helping us understand what the community needs. Without your input, these projects wouldn’t be as successful. Thank you to everyone who took time to respond.

Below is just a few ways we have listened and actioned based on your responses:

🔹 You said: There’s nothing for toddlers
👍 We did: Added dedicated early years play equipment

🔹 You said: We want more climbing and active play
👍 We did: Made climbing, balancing & movement the heart of the design

🔹 You said: There should be something for all ages
👍 We did: Created zones for different age groups to play together

🔹 You said: We need places to sit and stay longer
👍 We did: Added seating and space for families to relax

🔹 You said: Make better use of the space
👍 We did: Redesigned the layout to open up play and social areas

🔹 You said: Some of the existing equipment is well loved
👍 We did: Retained equipment and found new ways to link it in with new exciting concepts

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to contribute to the consultation. Your input is instrumental in helping us create spaces that truly meet community needs.

Further updates will be shared in the coming weeks, including timescales, FAQ’s and sneak peeks!

We are saddened to share that the specialist trampoline at Castle Batch All-Inclusive SEND Play Park has been vandalised again, just 3 weeks after it was replaced following previous damage.

This time, the trampoline has been deliberately set on fire. This act of vandalism comes just before half term, when so many children and families would have been looking forward to using the equipment.

The specialist trampoline is designed to support inclusive play for children of all abilities and damage like this impacts many families within our community. Replacing this equipment costs thousands of pounds and can take significant time to order and install.

We know how valued this play park is by local families and we share in your frustration and disappointment.

‼️ Please be assured that CCTV footage is being reviewed; we will be pursuing this matter with the police and prosecuting. If anyone has any information relating to this incident, please contact Avon and Somerset Police: https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report/anti-social-behaviour/

❓️ Perhaps you are a young person who saw the incident happen? Or have information you want to provide? You can call 0800 555 111, it is 100% anonymous. Or complete this form online: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/fearless/give-information-anonymously/forms/generic-form

Thank you to everyone who continues to support and care for this important community space.

We encourage everyone to relax, bring a blanket, and make the most of the entertainment on offer, with refreshments available to enjoy as you soak up the fantastic atmosphere with family and friends.

This year will also showcase exciting new technology, with visitors able to discover how cutting-edge robotic innovations are helping to maintain Britain’s railway. The team are also thrilled to announce the event will host the fantastic The Satin Dollz! These pin up darlings are known for their tight blended harmonies, high energy tap dancing, sparkling charisma, and timeless beauty, delighting audiences of all ages both stateside and abroad. Wrapped in a retro bow and delivered with playful charm, The Satin Dollz have become synonymous with classic American style brought to life for modern audiences.

New for this year! - We are also pleased to share that this year you can join us on Friday 19th June at 6.30pm in the Italian Gardens, Weston-super-Mare, for a special Sunset Ceremony to mark the beginning of Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day celebrations. This poignant and memorable occasion offers a moment for reflection, respect, and community spirit as we come together to honour those who serve.
