A huge thank you to everyone who came along to speak with us at Priory School’s 50th Year Anniversary Community Celebration!

It was fantastic to meet so many students, families, staff, and members of the local community. Events like this are a great opportunity to connect, listen, and continue strengthening relationships within the community we serve.

We really appreciate all the conversations, support, and positive engagement throughout the day 🚓

We are appealing for anybody with information to come forward after a significant number of tools and equipment which were being used to restore a miniature railway in Clevedon have been stolen.

We received a report of a non-dwelling burglary at Salthouse Fields, Old Church Road, Clevedon, which is estimated to have occurred between 7.40pm on Sunday (14 June) and 9.30am yesterday (Monday 15 June).

A number of tools and equipment of significant value, including drills, generators and jet washers, were stolen. Due to the weight of the missing items, we believe a vehicle would have been used in the incident.

➡️ Crime prevention advice has been given as enquiries continue and anybody with information, or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, are asked to call us on 101 quoting reference 5226164412 or complete our online appeals form.

A man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

The arrest follows an incident in Pill yesterday (Sunday 14 June) which was reported to police.

Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Chaplin said: "Following the reports from concerned members of the public, officers carried out urgent enquiries to locate the individual.

"We are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident and we thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.

"Our enquiries are ongoing at pace and we request people avoid speculation as this could hinder these enquiries."

UPDATE (6.45pm)

The man has now been located. Thank you to everyone who called in about this incident.

_____

We have received reports of a man acting in a threatening way in the Pill area this afternoon (Sunday 14 June).

Officers are in the area and carrying out urgent enquiries to locate him as soon as possible.

We are aware of social media posts today from members of the public saying they too are searching for the man.

We would please ask people allow our trained officers to respond to this situation instead as those efforts may inadvertently hinder our own enquiries.

The best way the public can help us is by calling 999 with any sightings that may assist us. Please quote log number 839 of 14 June.

Thank you.

We’re encouraging football fans to behave responsibly during this year’s men's World Cup which gets underway tomorrow (Thursday 11 June).

The tournament will kick off when Mexico face South Africa at 8pm tomorrow evening.

England start their campaign against Croatia at 9pm on Wednesday 17 June, but policing plans across Avon and Somerset are already in place to make sure everybody is able to watch the matches safely.

While most football fans watch the games sensibly at home, in licensed premises, or fanzones, we will be running policing operations because figures show that several offence types increase when England play.

These are often linked to alcohol and with the later kick off times, there will be increased patrols around city and town centres and licensed premises.

One of the most notable increases in demand during major football tournaments is the volume of domestic abuse reports.

➡️ Assistant Chief Constable Rachel Shields said: “If you are being abused, police and other agencies are here to support you, and we ask those who suspect it is happening to do the right thing and not look away, but to report it to us and our partner agencies. Your intervention could save a life.”
