🌟🌟 Passout congratulations!!🌟 🌟
Please join us in saying a massive congratulations to volunteer crew member Zak, who has recently passed out as a helm! The pass out consisted of an hour-long theory exam in addition to a 2 hour practical exam, demonstrating secure command of the lifeboat and managing scenarios raised by the examiner; looking after the crew , delegating tasks and resolving problems raised during the exam. This is the culmination of 18 months of hard graft and consistently showing up on the helm training program. Possibly even more impressively, Zak is the latest helm in the Clarke family (4th generation!) going back to the start of West Mersea Lifeboat Station - RNLI in 1963.
Congratulations Zak, we're all so proud!

Over the past month we have had Mersea as well as Rowhedge Rainbows, Brownies and Guides visit the station to look around and learn about water safety. With the support from the volunteer crew, the water safety officer facilitated three visits which were great fun! We love sharing the work we do with the young people in our community and hopefully we'll see some of the girls as crew in future.
Mersea lifeboat received an incredible donation of over £50 from the girls! A big shout out and a massive thank you!

Last week we welcomed our local Rainbows unit to West Mersea Lifeboat Station - RNLI . The Rainbows had a tour of the station and Just George, our Atlantic 85 lifeboat. With help from our volunteer crew, they got to try on some of the kit, and learnt what happens when the pager goes off!
We really love working with the young people in our local community, and hope that there are some future crew amongst you!! 🌈

The lifeboat station on Coast Road is open from 11-4 today! Come and meet the crew, our Atlantic 85 lifeboat Just George, and get some water safety tips to stay happy and safe this summer!🌞 ⛵ 🛶

The volunteer crew of West Mersea Lifeboat Station - RNLI would like to invite you all to the lifeboat station on Coast Road next Sunday for a cuppa with the crew and a tour of the station. Additionally, with the warm summer weather imminent (hopefully!) the water safety team will be on hand to answer your questions, and entertainment in the form of Shanty singing is planned for the afternoon.

🚤 Ever thought about volunteering with the RNLI ?

As part of Volunteers’ Week, you are invited to an online event about what it’s really like to volunteer with the RNLI, in the North and East Region, from operational roles through to fundraising, water safety, shop volunteering, and more.

It’s taking place on Wednesday 3rd June at 6pm

It’s an opportunity to:
⚓ Hear directly from current volunteers
⚓ Ask questions in an informal setting
⚓ Find out about the wide range of opportunities available
⚓ Learn how you could make a difference in your community

You don’t need previous experience, maritime knowledge, or lots of spare time, there are many different ways to get involved and support saving lives at sea.

Last week, the fantastic Mersea Island Scout Group Beaver colony held a superhero evening. As well as some amazing fancy dress, they took the time to write some thank you letters to people they consider superheros. The volunteer crew of West Mersea Lifeboat Station - RNLI were thrilled to be the recipients of one of their letters! Thank you so much Beavers, hopefully there are some future crew amongst you!
