Local Plan Regulation 19 consultation deadline extended

Due to the temporary unavailability of our website following a national critical security alert affecting organisations across the UK, some consultation documents and supporting evidence hosted on our website were unavailable for a period.

To ensure all participants have sufficient opportunity to review the evidence base and submit comments, the consultation period has been extended by 24 hours.

The Regulation 19 Local Plan consultation will now close at 11.59pm on Monday 26 October 2026.

Around 20,000 new homes need to be planned for across Tonbridge and Malling up to 2042.

We know the scale of development and the infrastructure needed to support it are important issues for residents.

The Local Plan sets out how the borough proposes to meet that challenge.

Have your say on proposed planning controls for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

A public consultation has launched on a proposed Article 4 Direction covering parts of Tonbridge, East Malling and Snodland. If introduced, the Direction would mean planning permission is required for changes from a family home to a small HMO within these areas.

The proposal aims to give the council greater oversight of future HMO development and help manage local impacts while balancing the need for a range of housing options.

We want to hear from residents, landlords, businesses and anyone with an interest in these areas. Find out more about the proposal and submit your views as part of the consultation.
