A group of our members recently enjoyed a wonderful garden visit to “Sunningdale” in Wem - which is part of the National Garden Scheme - see www.ngs.org.uk

It was amazing to see such a beautiful, well thought through, laid out garden - it was a pleasure to walk around - we would definitely recommend a visit - we were in absolute awe of what the owner has achieved.

Our June meeting saw us laugh out loud as performer Gabriela La Foley entertained us with her ukulele playing, singing and story telling. She’s been described as “happiness in a hat” and this is so true! Gabriela is a truly unique entertainer - turning her story telling around to include several members of the audience- she is a bundle of joy and energy - a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Ladies, come along to our June meeting next week to hear the fantastic Gabriela La Foley playing her ukulele and telling tales and singing songs.

Her passion is to spread the sunshine and joy of the magic ukulele. Gabriela was once described as “Happiness In A Hat". That title stuck and it has been her motto ever since, as she dons her hat and flower and heads off to spread ukulele joy.

Join us on Thursday 11 June 2026 at 7pm in West Felton village hall and see what West Felton WI is all about - lots of laughter, chat and friendship plus activities galore. You do not have to make jam but just want to have fun and make new friends.

The visitors entrance fee is £5 which incl tea & refreshments. The annual WI membership is currently £50.00 (there is no extra charge for the monthly meetings). We meet every 2nd Thursday in the month in the village hall at 7pm except for May and August.

If you think it looks interesting and fun, why don't you join us? You can attend two meetings before you decide whether you want to become a fully signed up member or not.

You do not have to live in the village to visit or join. The WI is for women aged 18-118 ~ for women just like you! Be brave and just come along!

Here is what WI membership gets you:

Joining the WI is a brilliant chance to get some me-time back in your life, it helps to combat loneliness and takes away some of the pressures of work, parenting, life etc... just for one evening a month!

Membership includes:

• The opportunity to make new friends, have fun, laughter, chat, activities and trips

• The opportunity to visit other WI meetings around the UK on zoom and in person

A group of our members had a great day at the Annual Meeting for the Shropshire Federation of WIs at Theatre Severn yesterday.

The speakers were super - the main speaker, Lucy Easthorpe was brilliant - she’s involved in disaster planning - we bought her book for the WFWI library. Various photos below show entries of the specs cases competition for the Coronation Cup.

A group of our members tootled off to the south of the County on Saturday to take part in the Spring Ramble that was held in Much Wenlock.

It was a glorious sunny day - ideal for a walk in the countryside rounded off by fantastic refreshments - thank you to Much Wenlock WI for organising the event.

Ladies, you are welcome to come along as a visitor to see what West Felton WI is all about - lots of laughter, chat and friendship plus activities galore. You do not have to make jam but just want to have fun and make new friends.

Come and join us at our next meeting on Thursday 09 April 2026 at 7pm at West Felton village hall. The guest speaker will be Annie Moody - Annie lives in Windsor Castle with her husband, who is a Military Knight of Windsor. She has spent time studying and researching Queen Mary’s dolls house and will share with us what she has learnt.
