📢 OLDBURY SAFER 6 | 8–14 JUNE 2026

Safer 6 activity in Oldbury begins on Monday 8 June with FREE community liver health checks at ASDA Oldbury. Residents can access quick, non-invasive scans along with practical health advice to support wellbeing.

The programme continues with the Oldbury Safer 6 Launch Event on Tuesday 9 June at Oldbury Market Civic Square. Come along to meet council teams, emergency services, and local partners, and find out what support is available in your community.
Throughout the week, there will also be:
✅ Free bike marking
✅ Youth engagement sessions
✅ A wellbeing pop-up clinic
Plus, additional activity including school safety sessions, fire safety visits, environmental clean-ups, and business engagement across the town.

🌿 It’s 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸, and we’re celebrating our incredible gardening volunteer, Lynn! 🌿

In this lovely photo, you’ll see staff member Tracey relaxing on the bench at the front, enjoying a good book, all while Lynn works her magic in the background, tending to the Bleakhouse Library garden. It’s a brilliant reminder of how much joy and calm this space brings to everyone who visits, thanks to Lynn’s hard work.

Lynn is currently our one and only gardening volunteer, and she’s done an amazing job transforming the garden into a peaceful, welcoming spot. But even the most dedicated gardener could use a bit more help (and maybe some extra muscle).
If you or someone you know enjoys being outdoors, loves plants, or just wants to support a great community space, we’d be thrilled to welcome more volunteers.

What a lovely afternoon at Thimblemill Library celebrating Barbara Pym’s birthday! 📚✨
A huge thank you to the Barbara Pym Society for their generous donation of Jane and Prudence as part of ‘A Pym in Every Library’. A brilliant way to honour the late, great Dame Jilly Cooper, who absolutely adored Pym’s work.

As a young newcomer to London, Jilly discovered Barbara Pym at her local library, and loved Jane and Prudence so much she paid the fine rather than return it! She went on to champion Pym’s work throughout her life, re-reading it with real joy 💛📖

We’re halfway through National Volunteers Week, and we’re loving all the colour, kindness and community spirit filling our libraries.
