Four-year-old Ellis knows just how much our play team can brighten a hospital stay.

So, with help from his mom, he decided to give something back - donating amazing arts and crafts supplies from the team’s wishlist to help other children in hospital. 🎨💙

A huge thank you to Ellis and his mom for spreading smiles, creativity and kindness. What a little superstar!

After being rushed into hospital with a severe allergic reaction, three-year-old Zaiden is now heading home just in time for tonight’s World Cup game.

And he left with the biggest smile, waving his flag after a special visit from our resident World Cup mascot - Emergency Care Technician Matt Sheldon, who has been bringing football fever to wards across the hospital.

Enjoy the match, Zaiden! 🏆

From porters and domestic colleagues, catering teams and security staff, to maintenance teams, linen services, waste teams, gardeners, engineers and many more – their work keeps our services moving and supports safe, clean and welcoming care for patients, visitors and colleagues.

Our hospitals simply could not run without you.

Do you look after someone who needs extra support in hospital or at an appointment?

Our Essential Companion Access Card helps recognise the vital role unpaid carers, family members and friends play in supporting the people they care for.

The card can help companions stay involved in care, support mealtimes, take part in important conversations and where appropriate, access flexible visiting, overnight stays and free parking.

Speak to the nurse in charge or ward team to find out more.

Steven has been receiving care in our hospital for some time and isn’t currently able to leave the ward without support from our therapy team.

But when his grandson’s birthday came around, therapists Emily and Sophie pulled all the stops out to make sure he didn’t miss out on the celebrations.

They arranged for Steven and his family to enjoy a special meal together in our Winter Garden restaurant, complete with a Colin the Caterpillar cake, of course!

It meant Steven could be part of a precious family moment, sharing food, laughter and birthday memories together.

🌄 Taking on Snowdon by sunrise for our patients

On 12 July, Josh and his mum Julie will be hiking through the night to reach the summit of Snowdon as the sun rises - all to raise funds to improve care and experiences for patients across our hospitals.

Between them, they have dedicated more than 50 years to the NHS. Julie has given over 40 years of service, while Josh has spent more than a decade caring for patients and supporting families as a Critical Care Nurse.

Now, they’re swapping hospital corridors for mountain paths to take on an incredible challenge for a cause close to their hearts. 💙

Please support Josh and Julie if you can and help spread the word by sharing their story:

An innovative robotic-assisted surgery is helping patients with enlarged prostates recover faster and get back to living life with confidence.

Our urology teams at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital are now offering Aquablation Therapy – a minimally invasive procedure that uses a high-pressure, heat-free waterjet to remove prostate tissue with precision.

The procedure takes around 40 minutes with patients benefiting from faster recovery, fewer complications, and reduced side effects compared to traditional treatments.

Seventy-nine-year-old Peter Lambert from Sutton Coldfield was one of the first patients to undergo the one-of-a-kind procedure.

He said: “The best part has been the improvement to my quality of life. I’ve been able to get back to gardening, cycling and other physical activities without worrying about where the nearest toilet is.”

A huge well done to our urology teams for bringing this innovative treatment to patients in the Black Country.
