How reporting flooding using FORT helps us in Bridport.

Reporting of flooding is crucial for incident response and also for long term planning of flood risk reduction measures. If we are impacted by flooding but don't report it, then the relevant authorities may not be aware of what has occurred.

The portal for non-emergency reporting in Dorset is
https://floodreport.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/

FORT is the Flood Online Reporting Tool and this information is shared with risk management authorities to ensure it goes to the correct organisation. Our local flood risk engineers use the reports to decide where to prioritise their engineering schemes such as new drainage systems. They ask we report after every incident to help them build up a picture. You can back date your reports for the past 5 years.

If you find it hard to do the online reporting, please message us as we may have a flood warden available to help you.

FORT would be used after the event in a non emergency situation. If there is an emergency and a risk to life you would call 999.
For other reporting at the time of the event you would contact the relevant agency - you can find the links here:
