City of Wells Lions The City of Wells Lions Club. Registered charity number 1181081 The City of Wells Lions Club was founded in 1975. It costs just £1 a week to belong.

We have raised more than £170,000 for local and Lions Charities, and have organised some of the city’s best-loved events including the annual May Fair activities in the market square and the Moat Boat Race at the Bishop’s Palace in August. We are one of the oldest and most respected voluntary service groups in Wells, and we are now launching a drive for new members, to help us carry on our role in the community
We are a lively club, suited to all people of all ages. We have one business meeting a month, and usually one social event monthly too. That covers all our administration and club equipment, which means that every penny we raise from the public goes to charity. We are a part of Lions Clubs International, founded in 1917, the world’s largest voluntary service organisation with 1.3 million members in 200 countries.

City of Wells Lions thank all those who gave to the Marie Curie Daffodil appeal. We were delighted to collect in Morrisons and Tesco, and to coordinate the collection boxes at local businesses. Lions were able to top up the collections and present £850 to Marie Curie South West!
