Crews were mobilised to help an individual who had fallen this evening, assisting our colleagues from the ambulance service. We encountered access issues due to parking on an already narrow road. In an event of a multi pump response access issues like this would severely hamper a quick response. If we can ask everyone to be considerate when parking ensuring adequate room for passing emergency vehicles. Thank you.

We’d like to take a moment to recognise the hard work and achievement of Kal. Kal has passed his stage 3 competency assessments and can finally remove his diamonds. These are on helmets to identify firefighters in development compared to firefighters who have met the standard to be classed as competent.
Kal has demonstrated his service knowledge, knowledge of our safe systems of work and competency in all core skills. Well done for all your hard work!

Crews attended a fire call this morning in a domestic property in the Wellington area. A battery was on charge in the house when the owner heard noise coming from the battery and the charger. The occupier acted swiftly by moving it outside before it exploded.
This shows the importance of monitoring your battery operated devices when charging.
Batteries give off toxic smoke when entering thermal runaway hazardous to all in the vicinity. Charge batteries in suitable areas, keep exits clear and use reputable manufacturers.
