History
In the 2003 local elections the opposition Conservative group scored an outstanding victory in Wellingborough District, gaining 13 seats to secure an 18

-seat majority in the Council Chamber, while in East Northamptonshire the Conservative group increased its majority to 30 seats. In 2005 following on from the local election successes, the Conservatives regained the Parliamentary seat they lost in 1997; Peter Bone secured a 2.9% swing to the Conservatives to win with a majority of 687. In 2007 the Conservatives in East Northamptonshire virtually eradicated opposition in the district when they won all but one of the 40 seats in the council chamber. In Wellingborough, the Conservative majority in the 36-seat chamber increased to 24 winning 30 seats at the same time defeating both the leader of the Labour group and his deputy. In 2009 Wellingborough Conservatives won 4 more seats on Northamptonshire County Council so that all Wellingborough and East Northamptonshire seats on Northamptonshire County Council were held by Conservatives. In 2010 the Conservatives increased their majority in the Parliamentary seat to 11,787 and the national party formed a new government in coalition with the Liberal Democrats. In 2015 the Conservatives once more increase their majority in the Parliamentary seat to 16,397 and the party formed the first Conservative majority government since 1992 with David Cameron as Conservative Prime Minister. Congratulations to all those from across North Northamptonshire recognised in His Majesty The King's Birthday Honours.

We're especially proud to see our own Cllr Barbara Jenney awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her outstanding service to the community. Her commitment to public service and community life has touched the lives of countless people, and this honour is a fitting recognition of her tireless work.
A thoroughly deserved honour.

Reform promised change at North Northamptonshire Council.

Like Labour nationally, they campaigned on a promise of doing things differently and easing the burden on residents.

Instead, residents have seen a 4.99% council tax increase, higher green waste charges, proposed parking charges in Wellingborough and Rushden, and now a reported £13.8 million overspend with reserves used to balance the books.

But Reform asked residents to trust them because they said they had the answers.

Reform promised change. Residents deserve accountability. Local Conservatives will continue to hold the administration to account and stand up for the interests of local residents and businesses

🎳 A great evening at our Skittles Night at the Rushden station social club and ale bar, Rushden, Higham & Wellingborough Railway!🚉🍻

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, took part, and helped make it such a fun and successful evening. From the friendly competition to the great atmosphere, it was brilliant to see so many people supporting both the association and the wonderful Rushden Station Bar.

Rushden Station Bar is a real gem in our local community and such a fantastic, unique venue. We wouldn’t be able to showcase evenings like this without places like it, and continued support is so important for community spaces that still face challenges and rely on people coming through the door to keep going strong.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us and well done to all our skittles champions of the night! 🎳👏

Britain should never be dependent on hostile regimes for the energy we need to power our homes, businesses, and economy.

Supporting British energy means protecting jobs, strengthening national security, and keeping bills lower for working families.

It’s time to back British oil and British workers. 🇬🇧⚡️

Keir Starmer’s assault on our North Sea oil and gas industry is ending 1,000 jobs a month. Meanwhile he’s paying Putin to import Russian oil.

That is insane.

So today we are launching a campaign to Back British Oil.

Another worrying milestone for the economy. Businesses are struggling, confidence is falling, and working people are paying the price. Britain needs growth, investment, and policies that support jobs; not make it harder to employ people. 📉🇬🇧

Only Kemi Badenoch’s Conservatives have the plan to get Britain working again.

Rachel Reeves is responsible for the single largest drop in employment since COVID.

Read that again.
