Well done to everyone involved in organising the Queensway parkrun including Cllr Valerie Anslow! We’ve been told that there were over 600 runners, with one completing her 12th alphabet!

I think everyone can agree, it's been too hot this weekend. The UK is not built for this kind of heat.

It reminded me of the meeting were NNC decided to delay Net Zero targets of the council back to 2050 from 2030. There are many lies about Net Zero and a misunderstanding of climate change/global warming, it is a real risk to future generations. We need to remember the world that our children and grand children will inherit.

This Labour government have been making a push to ensure that they have a world to inherit. Massive investment in renewable energy means less reliance on burning fossil fuels alongside not being affected as much by global crisis' such as the war in Iran.

Pavement parking is an issue which has been raised with our councillors, or MP, and our volunteers time and time again. We have pledged in the past to fight against pavement parking which causes issues for pedestrians, especially those with prams or mobility issues.

In December Cllr David Baker for Victoria brought a motion to NNC with fellow Victoria Councillor Kelly Duddridge seconding the motion for their full council meeting where it was agreed throughout the council that this enforcement is needed. Their motion noted the growing accessibility, and safety concerns and the condition of local streets deteriorating.

In January it was announced that the government would be giving extra powers to local councils to ensure pavements are clear for those who need them most. You can read more here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-local-powers-to-keep-pavements-clear-for-those-who-rely-on-them-most
