Thank you to all our supporters, volunteers, poster board sites, candidates and everyone who helped us in these elections.

Peter Taylor - Mayor of Watford was re-elected with more votes than the other 6 mayoral candidates combined and a majority of almost 10,000.

We won all 12 Watford Council wards, for the first time ever, gaining Vicarage and Holywell wards from Labour.

Thank you so much to everyone who placed their trust in me! I will always do my best for the town.

The result was:

🔶 Peter Taylor (Watford Liberal Democrats): 14,583 (52.5%)
➡️ Reform: 4,972 (17.9%)
🟢 Green: 3,084 (11.1%)
🔴 Labour: 2,742 (9.9%)
🔵 Conservative: 1,915 (6.9%)
⚪️ UKV: 280 (1.0%)
⚪️ Independent: 192 (0.7%)

Why won’t the Reform UK candidate for Mayor of Watford attend events like this and answer residents’ questions?

Why won’t the Reform UK candidate for Mayor of Watford attend events like this and answer residents’ questions?

Thank you to One Vision for organising this evening’s mayoral election hustings at Watford Boys. I’m also really grateful to the other candidates for an interesting discussion and to members of the public who came to ask us questions.

It was disappointing that, once again, the Reform
UK candidate for Mayor chose not to participate. In last year’s local elections, Reform UK came second in Watford, with the Watford Liberal Democrats securing the most votes.

These events are a chance for residents to find out about the candidates and to ask us questions. I think candidates should be prepared to listen to residents, answer their questions, and take part in these events.

It says a lot about the type of Elected Mayor someone would be, if they refuse to do this.

If I am re-elected, we will ensure any increase in Watford Council’s share of council tax is kept to a minimum and is below the rate of inflation.

We know the cost of living crisis is putting pressure on residents, which is why supporting local families is more important than ever.

The Watford Liberal Democrats exist to create a stronger economy and a fairer society in Watford. Local people know that we fight hard for them. Whether it is campaigning against government power grabs, getting residents views heard on development or bringing investment to the centre of town, the lo...

Peter Taylor - Mayor of Watford and our team have an ambitious plan for Watford 🔶

It was great to be joined by Daisy Cooper to launch our manifesto for this year’s mayoral election. Our commitments include:

🌳 Increasing the number of award-winning Green Flag parks in Watford to 18 – with more accessible playgrounds, new water fountains, more trees, better paths and officer patrols to make the town’s parks even better.

💡 Opening a new Museum of Watford at the Town Hall. There will also be a new Innovation Hub in the building, providing space for businesses to grow.

🏀 Improving sports facilities, with a new cricket wicket in West Watford, better basketball facilities in North Watford and a new outdoor gym that can be used by teenagers.

⛸️ Having a Winter Ice Rink in the town centre - to support local businesses and offer residents and visitors an additional activity in the town.

🏥 Fighting for improvements to local public services such as the new hospital we were promised and better public transport.

💰 Keeping increases in Watford Council’s share of council tax as low as possible, and never above the rate of inflation.

It has been such a privilege to serve as Watford’s Mayor since 2018. My priority has always been to bring people together to make this a better town for everyone.

We have achieved a lot and implemented over 95% of the commitments made in my manifesto in 2022. Last year Watford Council was named Council of the Year.

These are likely to be the final few years of Watford Council before we are merged into one of the new councils the government is setting up. I want to make sure that in this time we make Watford even better for everyone.

This delay is simply unacceptable. It’s depressing, but no surprise, that the MP for Watford once again defends this delay rather than making the case for this investment now.

Dozens of other projects across the country will receive their full funding before us. Why won’t the Watford MP stand up for us, rather than always choosing to defend this government?

12 years!? 🙄

We agree with Daisy Cooper! Thank you so much for consistently making the case that Watford General needs to be rebuilt much sooner.
