New Hope

New Hope New Hope is a Watford-based charity working with people who are experiencing homelessness

For over 35 years, staff and volunteers at New Hope have been working with people in Watford who are experiencing homelessness. Through a variety of services, we walk alongside people every step of the way from street homelessness to independent living. We treat each person as an individual and support a wide range of beneficiaries, focusing on single adults and families in council temporary accom

modation in Three Rivers. The people accessing our services are first and foremost people – people who for a variety of reasons have ended up experiencing homelessness. Our provision begins with our intervention services which build relationships and offer support to people who are street homeless, including an active street outreach service, help for people worried about eviction, a 24/7 helpline (0300 012 0168) and provision of food, showers, laundry etc.; our recovery services include accommodation for over 50 people and two schemes to help people gain confidence, improve wellbeing and gain skills, Cultivate (wellbeing and mental health) and HopeCollege; finally, our prevention services support people new to independent living so that they maintain their tenancies (TST) and our own affordable housing scheme, HopeHomes.

"Volunteering as a befriender allows me to develop new skills and build on existing experiences to support the ongoing recovery of mental health and wellbeing in others, and myself. For me, volunteering is life-changing. it's a gift shared both ways."

For five months James lived in the woods on the outskirts of Watford - alone, sometimes a little frightened, and hidden, almost, from the world.

We're still celebrating our volunteers for Volunteers' Week! πŸ’™

"Volunteering with outreach is not an instant reward but it is a valuable support service which hopefully is the start of that journey to a better life for those sleeping rough. It's very rewarding if you are able to help someone start walking on that path to recovery. I also value and appreciate the friendship of the New Hope team I spend time with."

"Cooking side by side in a different environment breaks down day-to-day work barriers and allows us to collaborate in a personal, meaningful way. The best thing is that we are helping others while developing as a team. It's rewarding and genuinely uplifting."

πŸ’™ From homelessness to hope πŸ’™

For five months, James lived in the woods on the outskirts of Watford - alone, sometimes a little frightened, and hidden almost, from the world.

Thankfully, James was found and came to stay at the New Hope's Sanctuary. Please can you make a donation and help provide someone else with a safe place to stay.

Please give today and help provide life-saving and life-changing accommodation for someone in need.
