We are passionate about Watford becoming a Dementia Friendly Town.

There are many little things that organisations, businesses and individuals across the town can do to make the lives of those living with Dementia and carers a little easier.

Do you, or someone you care for, live with dementia? Join us for a series of free creative heritage workshops exploring Watford's fascinating history through art, conversation and shared memories.

These friendly and inclusive sessions are inspired by the upcoming Museum of Watford - The MoW and offer a wonderful opportunity to:

✨ Enjoy creative, hands-on activities
✨ Share memories and stories
✨ Meet new people in a supportive environment
✨ Spend quality time together

Whether you've lived in Watford for decades or are discovering its history for the first time, everyone is welcome.

💙 Making Watford a more dementia-friendly place for everyone.

Last week, organisations from across Watford came together at Vicarage Road for the launch of the Dementia Friendly Hertfordshire Accreditation, a scheme designed to help organisations become more welcoming, accessible and inclusive for people living with dementia and those who support them.

The accreditation recognises the great work already happening across our town while encouraging more organisations to take practical steps to improve understanding, accessibility, communication and inclusion.

We're proud to see local partners working together to create a community where people living with dementia can stay connected, maintain their independence and continue taking part in the activities that matter most to them.

💙 If you are living with dementia, or caring for someone who is, you may be eligible for extra protection against COVID-19.

💙 The vaccine is available to people aged 75 and over, care home residents, and some people with health conditions.

📞 If you're unsure, speak to your GP practice or a pharmacist.

Watford has already built a strong dementia-friendly community, and now the Dementia Accreditation Process is being launched across Hertfordshire, helping more organisations, businesses and community groups create welcoming and supportive environments for people living with dementia.

Age Friendly: Live Better Hertfordshire is partnering with Herts Pride to better understand the experiences of older LGBTQ+ people across the county.
