Hello.
This update is about one of the trees to the front of the school. Sadly it is being taken down this weekend (5th - 6th Sept). Initially the Parish Council hadn't received any consultation and only found out about the proposal when the County Council put in a planning application.
The Parish Council objected, however the subsequent report from the tree surgeon detailed that the tree was in the process of dying and would become a hazard within the next 12-18 months. The Parish Council therefore reluctantly withdrew its objections. However, after representations a replacement tree (a large specimen at a not unsignificant cost) is going in at some point at the County Council's expense.
It should be noted that this is not the action of either the school - who were also unaware until informed by the Parish Council - or the Parish Council but the County Council.
The replacement tree will be vulnerable in the first months and it will be protected by a fence but if folks can keep an eye out for it and ensure it isn't tampered with then it would be greatly appreciated. Parish Councillors will also, obviously, keep a watchful eye on the new tree. Thank you
