So important

31/12/2020

Artists who support the values of LGBT+ Pride and race equality please come forward. We have secured funding to create 100 + packages for people in care homes. Each package will contain an uplifting, original water colour painting, a poem and a letter of friendship. Contact me if you would like to be one of the six artists to create the paintings (I'll write the poems). We will also recognise the fantastic work of front line care staff by including them in the project.

Please contact local radio stations today to tell them that BAME soldiers and pilots made a massive contribution to the defeat of fascism in World War 2.

ART for EQUALITY
I am delighted to announce a project to promote the values of equality and diversity through art. This is a community art exhibition displaying the values of cultural diversity, race equality, LGBT+ rights and any other aspect of diversity that unites us. Look out for the work of artists who will display examples of their own artwork on this page. Please contribute. Artists of all ages are invited to take part. The art should be two dimensional and no larger than one metre square (A4 pictures will be fine). Use any medium. When we have achieved 30 pictures we will collect and display the work in local cafes and other supportive, community venues in the new year. Contact me for more details or to answer questions. This project is supported by Watchet Pride and the West Somerset Inter Cultural Friendship Group

Blood has dried as the police truncheon is polished and put away
Blood has dried as the black and white children are told not to play
Blood has dried as African families are removed from their homes in the name of segregation
Blood has dried on the alter of stinking white supremacy and immoral legislation
Blood has dried as racists abuse Ruby Bridges in her new school dress and shoes
Blood has dried as the Klu Klu Klan raise their bibles and the busker sings the blues
Blood has dried on the crisp white shirt of Martin Luther King
Blood has dried as the vultures around dead children sing
Blood has dried as Trump stands smug and proud
Blood has dried as we shout “Black Lives Matter!”out loud
Blood has dried as strange fruit hangs from the tree
Blood has dried as we proudly take a knee
Blood has dried as we learn of statues and slaves
Blood has dried on the fists of resistance and within the mass graves
Blood has dried as we feel our awesome power
Blood has dried as we grow in strength hour by hour.
