Apply for early education partnerships funding

Early years providers and schools can now apply for funding to form an early education partnership.

These partnerships will strengthen relationships between early years settings and schools, helping children transition to reception, feeling confident, prepared, and supported, with schools ready to meet each child's needs.

Nurseries, childminders, other early years providers and schools are encouraged to connect with each other in their local area and apply for the development grant, which will help partnerships establish themselves and develop their plans.

Applications will close on Friday 17 July 2026.

Information webinars take place on Thursday 18, and Tuesday 23 June 2026.

Getting Ready for School – Building Independence Step by Step

Helping children learn everyday self-care skills is a great way to prepare them for starting school. Simple routines like going to the toilet, washing hands and getting dressed independently can boost confidence and help them feel more settled.

When children can manage these tasks on their own, it supports them to:
✨ Feel more self-assured
✨ Stay clean and healthy
✨ Take part in daily school life with ease

At home, you can encourage this by practising together, keeping routines familiar and offering lots of praise for their efforts
