Our bee bank has begun to attract some tiny residents!
Solitary bees lay their eggs in holes, laying an egg, packing it with food, laying another, packing it with food, and so on. They then plug the end of the hole with material. This varies depending on the bee species. Red mason bees like to use mud, leaf cutter bees like to use leaves.
The hole will stay plugged for a year whilst the larva hatch and develop. They will overwinter safe and cosy in the hole and emerge in the spring 🐝

This week is Dying Matter Awareness Week, a campaign run by Hospice UK. It aims to make things better for people who are dying or grieving and the theme this year is 'Let’s talk about Death and Dying'.

When it's so hard to start the conversation with a loved one, taking a practical line can sometimes help. Using our My Last Wishes form (https://sunrising.co.uk/my-last-wishes), for example, can provide a valuable structure.

For more information about Dying Matter Awareness Week, visit https://www.hospiceuk.org/our-campaigns/dying-matters.
