Warwickshire County Council has set out plans to strengthen support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, following approval of its Local SEND Reform Plan by Cabinet.

The plan is part of the Government’s national SEND reform programme, which sets out an ambitious vision for a more inclusive, sustainable and effective system for children and young people aged 0 - 25. It focuses on identifying needs earlier, improving access to support, and strengthening partnership working across education, health and care.

A big part of creating carer-friendly communities - the theme of this year's - is ensuring that everyone, whether they are a carer or not, understands the challenges that carers face on a daily basis.

In order to help reinforce this across Warwickshire, we have created the following, totally free, Carers Awareness Training. In this online resource, we explore how one is defined as a carer, what the day-to-day life of a carer looks like and why their contribution to our local communities are so important. There are two training packages, one for adult carers and one for young carers. You can access these on the links below:

A rogue builder has pleaded guilty to fraud following a successful prosecution by Warwickshire Trading Standards service.

Builder Patrick Noel Doherty (age 23 years of Salter Street in Earlswood, Solihull) who traded as Shakespeare Driveways & Patios Ltd lied to the couple about the state of their property and undertook work that was overpriced, of poor quality, and in some cases completely unnecessary.

At Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday 27 May 2026, Mr Doherty pleaded guilty to three offences under the Fraud Act 2006. He will be sentenced on Monday 29 June 2026.

In partnership with Coventry City Council and Bridgit Care, we are inviting unpaid carers across the region to share their experiences at a friendly, informal feedback session on Wednesday, 24 June.

The event is aimed at carers who have accessed the newly launched digital platform, Bridgit Care. The session provides a valuable opportunity for users to discuss what aspects of the digital service have worked well for them, highlight areas for improvement, and directly influence how the tool can better support unpaid carers in the future.
