Today my year in office ends where it all began, at The Shire Hall in Warwick. At 2pm I hand over the High Sheriff baton to Susan Rasmussen.

It has been a truly remarkable year — so much to reflect on and so much to remember — but above all, so many people to thank.

My heartfelt thanks to my husband Scott for his unwavering support every single day; to my High Sheriff’s Chaplain, Angus; to Bob, Anne, Samar and Barbara and all my wonderful ‘offering of consorts’; and to all those who have collaborated with me throughout the year.

Most importantly, thank you to the incredible people across Warwickshire who work tirelessly every day to build a cohesive society and protect our peace.

Warwickshire, it has been my privilege to serve. Thank you.

Happy 1st Birthday to the Memory Café at Cubbington Village Hall 🎉

I made a quick visit to say hello, offer my thanks, and present a gift of appreciation to Lucie, a volunteer who has been there from the very beginning.

What a truly lovely group—people coming together to support one another, whether living with or caring for those experiencing memory loss. It was a privilege to see such warmth, kindness and community in action.

The café runs every Tuesday from 10–12 and is a wonderful place to share a cuppa, connect with others, and take part in a range of activities.

I also managed to meet one of your newest Warwickshire PCSO’s Nicole. Welcome to the force Nicole, it was lovely to meet you and I am thankful for your service to

Thank you to everyone involved—you are making a real difference 💙

I had the pleasure of visiting the mural in Caldecott Park, now in its final stages, and meeting the incredibly talented artist Nicolo. We spoke about the determination and resilience it takes to build a career as an artist, and it was inspiring to hear about his passion from such a young age.

Art is a powerful way to express ourselves—and I still can’t quite believe this level of detail is achieved with a spray can! It’s coming along beautifully.

I am delighted Rugby has this mural celebrating our local Olympians—Lauren Henry, Chelsie Giles (who joined me on my cycling challenge) and Kimberley Woods—with the aim of inspiring future generations.

This project has been some time in the making, working alongside the Parks and Assets teams at Rugby Borough Council, and it’s fantastic to see it brought to life by the brilliant local artists, the.artsytwins

There’s still a little more to be done, but if you’re nearby, do take a moment to visit and see it for yourself.

🌟 Warwickshire Changemakers Returns for 2026 🌟

As my year as High Sheriff draws to a close, I’m delighted to announce that the Warwickshire Changemakers celebration will return in 2026 — recognising those who make an extraordinary difference across our county.

Following the success of our inaugural event in 2025, where 100 remarkable individuals were honoured, we will once again come together to celebrate another 100 inspiring people who strengthen Warwickshire through service, kindness, innovation and community spirit.

📅 Tuesday 4 August 2026
📍 St Mary’s Church, Warwick → procession to Warwick Castle

This special day will begin with a formal recognition ceremony, followed by a procession through Warwick and an evening celebration at Warwick Castle, bringing together around 500 guests including families and civic leaders.

Throughout my year, I have seen the power of collaboration across our public services, charities, community groups and individuals. The Changemakers celebration is a shining example of what we can achieve when we come together for positive impact.

🙏 Thank you to all our partners — Warwick Castle, St Mary’s Church, Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council — for their generous support in making this possible.

💬 Do you know someone making a difference?
Nominations will be open soon via the High Sheriff’s website or through your local mayor. Look out for details next week.

Thanking for having me VASA team. I’m still in shock about how many long serving volunteers you have. All of these lovely folks with over 10 years given and Richard with 47 years. Wow!

Today I had the pleasure, as High Sheriff, of catching up with one of my ChangeMakers, Karen Williams, and seeing Escape Arts in action in Stratford-upon-Avon.

What a fantastic space—an inspiring building, a powerful mission, and an exceptional team. It was a real highlight to meet today’s artist Johnnie and to see the supported group work developing as part of their “Roots to Roots” project. I very much look forward to seeing the finished piece.

Please do keep an eye out for the exciting work Escape Arts have planned this year, both on site and through their outreach programme. Wherever there is an opportunity to support individuals or strengthen communities, they bring creativity, care, and imagination to make a difference, and if you are ever caught short in Stratford….. they have a fabulous exhibition in their loo! . Last night we had the privilege of celebrating 30 years of Action 21 – The Reuseful Centre with a High Sheriff’s Award.

What an incredible organisation, driven by a powerful mission: to give new life to unwanted items and send zero to landfill. From clothes and household goods to those trickier items—small electricals, bicycles and more—nothing is wasted, everything has purpose.

But Action 21 is so much more than reuse. It is a place of warmth and support—a welcoming space for those starting again, where people can access essentials from bedding and kitchenware to food vouchers, and feel part of a caring community.

Last night though, was really about the volunteers. An extraordinary army of people who describe Action 21 as family, as purpose, and as the best thing they do. Their passion and commitment are truly inspiring.

A special thank you to Jodie, one of their dedicated volunteers, who helped me get to know so many of the incredible people behind this work (and assisted with cutting their wonderful vegan cake!). And to Louise, their fantastic manager, who leads this amazing team day to day.

Very worthy recipients of the High Sheriff of Warwickshire’s Award for outstanding service to the county and its people.
