We have not one but two new exciting Folk Exchange updates which you can discover in our Folk Art Collection. 😍

Folk Living Room ✨

In our “Around the Mantelpiece” display, our Folk Exchange network of community groups, artists and volunteers have contributed photos of objects that are significant to them. 💛

Although displaying objects, souvenirs or images may seem ordinary they form an important part of shared identities through memories.

Lost Journals ✨

This display expands our Deeds Not Words section in Folk Art (2nd Floor). It showcases 14 new artworks by members of Mothers Who Make Coventry in response to the research of Dr Tara Morton (University of Warwick). 🤩

The women have drawn on their experiences to create ‘Lost Journals’ inspired by undocumented voices of women on the Great Suffrage Pilgrimage of 1913 who camped out at Compton Verney for one night during their journey between Carlisle and London.

It's International Day for Biodiversity ✨

Today is the perfect day to reflect on how we can reconnect with nature. 🌿

We are lucky to have 120 acres of diverse landscape. In it lives an impressive array of wildlife and insects. 💚

🦋 We have 29 butterfly species
🦇 We have recorded on-site the rare Barbastelle bat
🪶 Recently, the infamous House Martins have returned to their nests in our portico and the Reed Warblers have been gracing us with their distinctive birdsong.

What is your favourite insect/animal here at Compton Verney? Tag us in your photos. We'd love to see! 🤩

Happy World Bee Day😊🐝✨

We've had bees on our site for over 10 years! Recently, the hives have had a fun makeover. 🌈

We have a core group of 4 volunteer beekeepers who do an amazing job looking after the hives all year round, including feeding through the winter and checking apiary health.

Each hive can contain around 50,000 bees and our volunteers collect around 100 lb (or 45 kg) of honey per season, which is then sold in our shop.🍯

We're really proud of our bee hives and are grateful to our volunteers for their help.💛🐝
