Lots of issues with poor maintenance of roads and footpaths and frustration with the local labour council and their reckless borrowing which is resulting in higher council tax and cuts to services.

Warrington Borough Council borrowed close to £2bn. Conservative councillors raised concerns, repeatedly, about the governance around those decisions and about returns that were promised and never materialised. Labour councillors, with Liberal Democrat support, dismissed them and waved the schemes through.

Residents are now paying for that. The council must find more than £50m in further savings, and that means significant changes to social care for elderly residents, higher parking charges that will damage our high streets, and further closures of leisure centres already in a perilous state. This is not an abstract argument about historic borrowing or numbers on a balance sheet. It arrives at the front door of Warrington residents.

Warrington Labour’s disastrous borrowing finally becoming clear for all to see.

Residents face even deeper cuts to local services and at the same time Council taxes reaches record levels.

Warrington Borough Council is proposing a further £51.2 million of savings, on top of £39m already identified, around £90 MILLION in total.

The Council is still facing an estimated £179m financial gap by 2029/30, with proposals including a smaller workforce, changes to services and significant savings from Adult Social Care.

Residents continue to pay more in Council Tax while increasingly being asked to accept less in return.

After years of financial problems, serious questions remain about how Warrington got into this position and who takes responsibility.

Warrington taxpayers deserve better financial management, accountability and value for money.
