A call on the way home yesterday from Mark at Treehouse Manchester needed a detour onto the M62 heading to Manchester Town Centre to help with a downed Fledgling Peregrine.

The guys on site had been watching over the nest site and the fledglings and became aware that one was now on a steel beam approx. 20ft up where building works were ongoing and something was obviously wrong.

As we observed, she made her way along the beam to a small platform, she was noticeably drooping one wing.

The Team from Mountain Earth and Treehouse Manchester were amazing. They arranged for Ian to go up in the Construction lift with a Net and with help from Jason they manged to get close enough to be able to net her. It would not have been possible to climb onto the ledge and that could also have made her try to fly and fall into the river below, so netting was the safest option.

She did get tangled for a couple of minutes but Ian and Jason soon had her free and into a carrier to get back down to the ground.

She has some swelling under her wing possibly caused by an impact whilst fledging. Rest and Anti-inflammatory Meds and then she will be BTO rung and released back to the site ASAP.

Nice quick release by Rob of one of the recent Tawny's to come in. Superb area for Tawny's which is monitored regularly.

Very successful release today by Rob Archer of the Kestrel that came in from My Pets Vets in Lowton with an eye injury approx 3 weeks ago.

Rob also placed the two young Kestrels that we rescued from the railway bridge on Mon, into a Foster nest.

Placing birds into Foster nests works really well and we will be posting some follow up information very soon.

Another busy evening yesterday.

First a call out to Ashton in Makerfield where a lovely couple were concerned about two juvenile Kestrels near a railway bridge next to a busy main road. One of them had run onto the road earlier but was then seen back on the embankment very close by. A difficult rescue as being next to the railway line everywhere was fenced off. So a net on a very long pole was used to get between the railings and scoop the first one out. The second moved further down the banking and behind undergrowth. With assistance from the Gentleman from the couple who had called us the second was recovered. No sign of a nest and far too risky to leave them. Huge Thanks to the couple involved.

Whilst on the way to the Kestrels a lady called Eve rang to say a young Barn Owl had fallen from its nest. So a journey then over to Hale village. The Barn Owl sadly is in very poor condition so we decided not to return to the nest immediately. We gave hydrating fluids regularly overnight and by mid morning today it actually took some small amounts of food. Everything crossed and hoping it pulls through. Thanks to Eve for calling us.

Call early yesterday evening for this Juvenile Peregrine. She had hit a fifth floor window before landing on the ground. Witnesses were very concerned as she was grounded and possibly injured. They were able to contain before calling us. She is from a nest site known to us and yesterday's high winds could have caused her a problem.

After rehabilitation she will be BTO RUNG and released back to the nest site.

Thanks to the finders for helping her.

PLEASE NOTE due to extensive flooding and ongoing adverse weather, the Centre will be CLOSED tomorrow Fri 12th June.

It is an improving forecast and we will be open again Sat 13th.

Our Wild Kestrel silhouetted against the heavy rain clouds was looking very damp today.

Apologies to anybody planning to visit tomorrow.

An update on our situation.

Despite Emails and requests for Comments from ourselves, BBC and our Local Labour Councillor Matt Smith, our Landlords Ribston, have declined to comment.

We did however receive a further Email from their Agent confirming the termination of our Lease In Dec 28. He also declined to comment further.

We have very kindly been offered land from three different Landowners but sadly non were viable options.

We are still trying to raise the funds to pay the Council for a further full planning application which will cost approx £6,500 if you can help in any way either by donations to the Gofundme link provided, or to our PayPal account [email protected] we would be extremely grateful. You can also support us if you enjoy a challenge and would like to take part in the Snowdon climb.

Huge Thanks to those who have already donated, we can't do this without your support.

What a busy 24 hours.

Early yesterday evening we collected this young Kestrel which will be off to a new home in the wild tomorrow.

This morning saw this young Ferret arrive from Medivet in Alder. Handed in by a member of the public and unclaimed.

Next the Peregrine from earlier on in the week which had kindly been rung by Craig Bell was collected by Steve another BTO ringer for release back to the nest site.

Finally something a little different. A Fox Cub found looking very lethargic in a garden. Now in the care of Beech House Vets.

We never know what the next call will be and although we are a Bird of Prey Rescue sometimes there is a need to assist with other Wildlife.

Remember this Barn Owlet that came In on 21st May and was a few days later placed in a Surrogate nest.

Look at the difference from then and now.
This totally proves that this system works. Given a match of ages and not too many chicks already in the nest. The parents instantly accept and rear as their own.

A watchful eye is kept by Rob to ensure all is well. Total success 🙌
